My cat hurt his leg and was limping for a while. I thought it was taking a long time to heal and eventually realised that he was still limping in front of me and walking normally when he thought nobody could see him, I’m guessing on the off chance that people would feel sorry for him and give him food.

It’s been great but today is the sixth and final day and I’m ready to go home so I can chill out on my own. The thought of going home and spending more time with this group of adults I’m related to fills me with dread. I can’t imagine what it would be like if one of them was a young child, let alone one that I had to be responsible for.
cough Debian cough

You. How fucked you are. Also if you believe in “the American empire” maybe you should be.

Aggravationstation@feddit.ukto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I feel like if asbestos was banned today there'd be a huge pro-asbestos movement211·3 days agoMy country banned smoking in all public indoor spaces almost 20 years ago. As a smoker at the time I thought it was ridiculous, felt that my rights were being violated and thought it would never last. The quality of life improvement it made is massive. Today I vape rather than smoke but wouldn’t dream of doing either indoors or being where someone else is. It was 100% the right move. Not quite the same thing but you sometimes can’t really understand the benefits of an alternative to the status quo, even if you understand it logically.
Been 20 years exactly almost for an actual “concert”, like just seeing one or two bands. Travelling to a venue is expensive for me as I live in the middle of nowhere. Plus I don’t really have anyone to go with. I go to local gigs with my brother and his girlfriend once every month or two. They travel all over for concerts but I think I’d feel like a third wheel if I went with them, though I might tag along if it turns out they’re seeing a band I really want to at some point.
I went to some festivals in 2023, it feels easier to justify the cost of travel to see a bunch of bands over a whole weekend. Was actually going to go on my own but my brother came with before he got with his gf. Might actually do one on my own next year. Rebellion in Blackpool is great and indoors which is a big plus in the UK.

I remember people used to say £50 notes were easier to forge compared to the others. Not sure if that was because of something about the note itself or because people saw them less and weren’t as used to them. Either way people became wary of accepting them. Plus it can be a pain to make change, especially when a lot of people pay with card now.
Yea, jellied eels are only really eaten on a small section of the south coast. The rest of the country wouldn’t go for that.
Yea when I said that I excel at Excel I was somewhat exaggerating, much as I have at every job interview I’ve ever had. It’s become something of a reflex these days. But as someone else has said I think that particular issue is just down to Excel being crap.
