The reason end of support keeps getting brought up is because the only remaining supported version is currently in a trash state and officially doesn’t support a LOT of hardware still in use.

Windows 7 was still supported for 5 years after 10 came out. Windows 8 didn’t go end of support until last year, 8 years after 10 launched. And keeping in mind that you could have upgraded a machine originally on xp to windows 10, it is hard to not feel like they are doing the entire industry dirty killing support just 4 years after the new os launched, while they are still bogging it down with newer and shittier features like its in beta or something.

Nah, I’m not trying to give any commentary on Lemmy or Linux in this thread. I’m just talking about how poorly the analogy is lining up for the intended purpose. Honestly, Lemmy shouldn’t be pushing any one thing in general, imo.

I do get confused about the people that show up in Linux specific communities and get mad about “all the Linux fanatics”, and maybe the original analogy would work for that.

I swear every year, they decide it so early I am convinced the electors don’t even care what the vote counts are. There is no fucking way backwards as fuck Oklahoma figured out a way to accurately track and count votes faster than any other state - and voter turnout would need to be so high they know it can’t possibly turn around in the last 2 hours of the polls still being open? So we totally can (and have) extended the right to vote to citizens living outside one of the 50 states to vote, we just won’t for Puerto Rico. :(

State or not I think its pretty ridiculous that they are american citizens but can’t vote for president of the united states… People living in DC get to vote and aren’t living in a state.

I want one but the price has kept me away… But its about to be time. I’m not one to upgrade often, I’m still on a galaxy s9 plus, which I love, but the battery is showing its age and the screen has some minor burn in after like I think 6 years of constant use.

Windows 10 on day 1 was still ‘calling home’ and recommending candy crush in the start menu as I recall. I had to dig into the registry to gut the windows store from it entirely to get windows 10 to act how i want an OS to act. Windows 7 was the last good windows IMO.
