I think a bigger component in making this happen is instituting ranked choice voting. Political parties are private institutions that have amassed entirely too much power over our country. Sure, we can vote but electoral college or popular voting and we still are stuck with a candidate selected by one of two private institutions. These private entities are able to control elected officials who stray too far from the party line. As long as large political parties control the candidates our vote holds less power.

We stop the horrors by placing stipulations on the aid we supply the Israelis. We stop turning a blind eye to how their extreme right wing factions like Netanyahu’s Likud party use our money and military resources. The United States, Europe and most of Asia are against settlements within Palestinian territories but each year right wing politicians allow or even encourage taking over more and more land. Plenty of Israeli citizens are against the settlements and against the Netanyahu regime so let’s work with them to make decisions that aren’t so obviously provocative to both their neighbors as well as the minority Israeli citizens who also live there. Let’s not pretend Netanyahu’s do whatever he pleases policies aren’t a big part of the anger and aggression we are seeing year after year. Our aid and financial support should be 100% conditional.

Unless we’re disallowing guns in video games, movies, books, plays or on the internet in general then this is a waste of time.

I remember taking an anthropology class years ago where the professor was attempting to explain how difficult it is to overcome our own personal bias. Her example was statements like “How did so and so win the election, nobody I know voted for them”. The point was we are more isolated than we realize because even within our own cities we tend to interact with only specific groups. My point is just because it doesn’t exists within your bubble doesn’t mean it’s not widespread.

If you think that then you have no idea what would come with the threat of a national gun ban. The right might be fired up but with a possible ban not one of them would miss voting day. Also, there are enough left wingers who are against banning guns to irrevocably damage the party. My point is there is no reason to even talk about this hot button issue. It’s not at the top of almost any left voters list right now so it won’t motivate anyone on that side. It was such a careless misstep that should have been completely avoidable. Talk about it After the election. Let’s pick a candidate who can do better.

What an idiot. Does he not realize talking about banning guns is the number one way to motivate right wingers? The US is NOT going to ban guns especially with the current Supreme Court. This is an example of his old team running old plays that haven’t been successful since the 90s. He needs to go before he causes any more damage to his party.

Biden will drop out. Full stop. It’s the people still defending him that are delaying the inevitable and lowering the chances of a Democrat president. No prominent Democrat would dare challenge Biden before he drops out for fear of party retaliation. The two party system is the real issue here. Until we abolish it our best hope is things don’t get worse because they won’t get better.

My aim is to replace Biden with someone who can actually win. Bidens team is on the offensive trying to claim he’s got the best shot but that’s a load of hot garbage. I think you’d be surprised at how many people voted for anything not trump last time around. This time around his cognitive decline has become so blatantly obvious that by even defending it you destroy the democratic party’s credibility and as a result become Trumps real enabler. The election will be decided by a few swing states and a small number of undecided voters living in those states. Telling them they are wrong about what the see and hear from Biden is gaslighting plain and simple. If democrats want to differentiate themselves as the morally superior party then lying out of fear isn’t a good look. The situation is what it is. The best chance they have is to replace Biden as soon as possible. Every day that passes decreases the nominees chances. Also, I really hope they hold a primary vote because just telling voters they get Vice President Harris makes this feel less like a democracy and will definitely alienate enough voters to throw the whole election.

Final thought, as long as we have a two party system nothing will really get better. The best we can hope for is not worse. It’s very telling that so many democratic congress people are afraid to challenge the party. If an elected representative is afraid to act on their conscience then it’s obvious we don’t have a real democracy.
