1·5 days agoThere is also sailfish firmware which iirc helps a lot plus using octoprint and modern slicing software. The only pain point is leveling the bed manually and not having a flexible bed plate so sometimes removing the print can be a pain. I used to get pretty good prints off of this clone.

2·6 days agoPrusia slicer makes it easy to set up two extruders as well as having the option for the firmware. Although it still outputs gcode and you have to convert it to x3g which I use the GPX octoprint plugin for. I’m sure you could use Orca slicer but it’s not documented. I used to use Slic3r before Prusia slicer became a thing.

3·6 days agoI had to go with prusia slicer but at least it’s an up to date slicer.
Yes this is the first layer. I can upload the gcode later if you’re curious.
It’s a brand new roll that printed fine on another printer yesterday. I think the issue is the z axis motor as now it’s toast after I crashed it into the bed.
The outer perimeter is sticking really well though. If you look you can see where the nozzle was dragging through the plastic on that part then when it goes to infill it does this guitar stringing thing.
I don’t use Mastodon or Twitter either. I never understood following specific people and prefer following topics instead.

A few were there, there was also a meeting that night for one of the committees so a few of those folks wandered in for a little bit. It’s mostly an older crowd so they didn’t seem too interested.
For the past 2 weeks I actually have been bringing in my laptop and setting up trivia from crowdparty.app and putting it on the big tv before bingo since people get there about 2 hours early to claim their spots. I usually hangout for an hour or so and get a few people to play but not a lot. They did announce the game night at the last bingo night. I also have jackbox survey scramble that I haven’t tried with them yet but I think a few of them might like. The issue with bingo night is that they also sell raffle tickets and go several rounds of doing that so people are more focused on dealing with that and socializing.
It’s the American Legion and yeah the commander helped me set it all up. Unfortunately there’s not a lot of very active members. The only thing they really have going on is bingo, which draws a pretty big crowd. Unfortunately the other nights are completely dead in there.
Yes there’s three other locations in that area including one on campus but I’m starting it off at my location as a proof of concept with the hopes of building a wider video gaming community around the whole state/country. It’s a veterans organization and the thinking is that video gaming can help with ptsd and isolation.
I think I’m going to push pacman tournament this week since that seemed to be a hit with the older crowd. It’s pacman championship edition dx+ so I think is more accessible than other pacman editions.
I just mostly brought party games with me since it’s the first time. Like codenames, Uno flip, flip 7, coup, fuse, and also some decks of cards and a cribbage board in case anybody older showed up. As far as video games, pretty much same with some jackbox games, packman dx+, but if someone wanted to they could play fortnite or rocket league I put a bunch of games on there. I figured I would let the players set the tone for what they wanted to play and we would just provide the space and let it develop it’s own culture over time. I did have the idea to have themes like spooky games for the month of October and like I said maybe have a tournament once a month or something like that.
Here’s is the flyer minus the address and location.

It’s a large veterans organization. Also sadly there’s is no public transportation off of campus, especially not out here. I will try to get some flyers printed and see if I can get them put up in town. I think campus is too far out there for students to come.
No I didn’t use ai as I myself scroll past those kinds of flyers. I did use a Canva template and made sure to put times, dates, and location on it. It was a very straightforward flyer. I advertised board, card, and video games abd brought my gaming pc with me. I did have a few of the older folks that were there playing pacman though. They were there for a meeting anyway and didn’t come just for game night.
It’s true and they have their own gaming clubs for board games and an E-sports team. I didn’t expect any students to come but ‘townies’ often use the subreddit for the college and there’s Facebook groups for gaming in that town for regular folks.

Here is the guide I used
https://hackaday.io/project/14823-monoprice-select-mini-maximum-3d-printer-mods/log/55525-upgrade-the-z-axis-with-a-nema17-stepper-and-tr8x8-leadscrew/
I had to cut out the old lead nut and drill tiny holes to mount it. The wiring that came with the new motor plugged into the main board but the motor turned the wrong way so I had to switch two wires. Do not switch them the way they did it in the guide it will not work.
Something to consider is also that the stock screw is not standard and you should change your layer height to
Layer Height (mm) 0.04375 (results may vary)* 0.0875 0.13125 0.175 0.21875 0.2625 0.30625
