Games@lemmy.world•Closed game studio returns to un-live service its game with community servers before shutdown: 'We don't believe Deceive Inc. should quietly disappear'English
21·3 days agoHonestly good to hear and I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually makes the game more popular than before for those that own it. I actually really enjoyed this game when it came out but it died so quickly that within a few weeks the player count went down so low that it was impossible not to get into a lobby with the sweatiest players in the whole game which made me drop it completely. There are so many games that suffer from this that could have been way more successful. Not every game can be Fortnite

News@lemmy.world•ICE Hasn’t Reported Detention or Deportation Data in Months
26·5 days agoTo be fair, they probably are keeping good records. They’re just for internal use only. They’ve basically fired everyone that would report that data or changed the rules so they don’t have to report it publicly anymore. The “leaders” of the regime, like Trump himself and his cabinet, all look like incompetent idiots bumbling around to distract us while the competent ones do all the work. And the majority of people will still spend all their time laughing at the clowns on TV as everything gets dismantled behind the scenes.

17·15 days agoExactly. So many jobs in my early 20s where I’d work my ass off, get thrown into a manager position, gain substantially more responsibilities, and then end up making less money than half the staff a year later.

36·15 days agoCurrently at the office on a Monday morning after they fired they guy above me a few months back and are now expecting me to not only do my job but his job as well. They raised my pay by $1 an hour, by the way. Jokes on them because I’m putting in exactly as much effort as one should while expected to do two peoples jobs for low pay and it’s not that much work at all.

1141·16 days agoI’m so tired of rich white people telling me I don’t work hard enough as I literally work my life away. I’m sure basically everyone that reads this comment has worked more in the last 5 years than these people have worked in their entire lives.

World News@lemmy.world•NATO commander says Europe has backfilled most gaps from US cutbacks on military equipmentEnglish
48·17 days agoAlong with the dollar being the standard for a lot of international trade, the military assistance provided by the US is one of the biggest reasons for their international power. Like, without those what does the US have to offer the rest of the world that aren’t just shitty tech companies that suffer from extreme enshitification.

35·18 days agoThat’s honestly not surprising these days unfortunately. Since republicans in the US took over again and with Elon Musk setting the precedent of little to no moderation online, it’s shockingly easy to accidentally find some very disgusting things on big social media platforms. Literally nobody that runs these companies give a shit any more and since most of them are based in the US the government in charge of them doesn’t give a shit anymore either.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Quote of the day by Gabe Newell: "Piracy is not a pricing issue. It’s a service issue" — Sony just proved why digital storefronts are brokenEnglish
130·20 days agoIt was a pricing issue when I was 12 and didn’t have a job. It’s a service issue when I’m almost 30 and I want to buy it but you won’t let me or you make it more complicated than piracy.
With video games I haven’t pirated a game in years because Steam and GOG make it (relatively) painless and most of the issues that arise are not even Steam’s fault and are usually the big developers delisting games or ending support.
Movies and shows? I’d have to do research to figure out who currently has the rights to the media and pick my streaming platform accordingly. Hell, some shows and movies series’ are split between different streaming services altogether. If I decide to watch said show on a PC they’ll lower the quality to 720p and I can’t change it. If I want to watch something on the go it’ll get blocked half the time even if I have it pre-downloaded on my phone. And if I want to “buy” it I have to figure which services are selling it and even than it will restrict how I can watch it. And now we have to worry about you removing things that we paid for from our libraries? Go fuck yourself. Even if Steam delists a game from their store you can still play it if it’s in your library.

politics @lemmy.world•Marjorie Taylor Greene joins Tucker Carlson in breaking with Republican party
38·26 days agoBest case scenario it splits the republican voter base up a little bit. They have enough clout in their own circles to actually make a dent. I think one of the biggest reasons republicans won is because they are so unified in their hatred at the moment. Meanwhile, democrats are constantly divided on everything and can’t even agree with most of their voter base on a single topic. They’re all still garbage people, but I’d like to see them punch each other for once instead of always punching down.

World News@lemmy.world•World Cup tourists aren’t leaving tips — and restaurants are fighting backEnglish
57·1 month agoLook, I worked in restaurants for half of my adult life and even though the system is fucked for tips it’s not like the wait staff has a say in the matter so punishing them by not tipping is completely pointless. That being said, I’m pretty sure 90% of wait staff agree with you about tipping but are unfortunately stuck in the system just like the rest of us. But even when considering all of that it’s absolutely insane that people are expected to tip when it costs $100+ just to go out to eat with a few friends.
Basically what I’m saying is that it’s generally a more complicated issue than it looks from the outside, but the long story short is that the staff are the ones getting fucked over by everyone else and it doesn’t make sense to punish them. It’s infinitely more helpful to leave a negative review than it is to not tip the wait staff. If you do that it actually brings attention to the issue and hurts the business instead of just punishing someone for trying to do their job.

No, thank you. :3
