If you like this you might like Big Thief and Hurray for the Riff Raff, Kurt Vile is mentioned with her and they did make an album together. It’s hard to find woman fronted groups or solo that are both as lyrical as her and rock as hard. Indie folk will be similarly lyrical but less noisy and fuzzy and indie rock groups will rock as hard or sound similar but Barnett’s style of songwriting is less common in those genres.

Wanting to protect your kids and struggling with “sheltering vs free reign” type decisions is most of the job of parenting. Whether that is Internet or crossing the street or whatever. Parents who end up overprotective don’t always start from a bad place and parents who end up excessively permissive don’t always start from a good place. Most people just out there trying to do their best in the face of uncertainty.

Do I know why it works to lessen the symptoms? No, not in the way that I’d put my name behind. It’s part of the diagnostic criteria because “relief with hot shower” doesn’t usually work for those symptoms if the cause is something else.

No, its from legit sources. It’s been a more and more popular diagnosis the last 5 or 6 years. I first saw it around 2018 in a legal state. One someone has it they kind of just have it and any THC use will cause the symptoms. It’s n/v and abd pain characterized by recent cannabis use in a chronic cannabis use patient. I’ve never seen it in anyone who described themselves as moderate. Relief with hot showers and worsening with cannabis use are the diagnostic criteria other than personal/social hx.

The doctors I worked with felt like it was due to the low price and availability of concentrates.

I found buying premade dough from the store is cheaper than buying the cookies cooked in the store’s bakery but only barely. Buying cookies at those chain cookie shops or in the middle of the grocery store are always high though. I’m sure making the dough is the way to go as far as cost goes but haven’t tried it to do for the direct comparison.

Nothing in particular, I think I was just bored/lonely. It was decades ago at this point. I lived in an area and had the kinds of jobs where that wasn’t too unusual a thing. I stopped all that extra foolishness after just a couple of years and went on to more normal jobs, eventually college and a family. No outward signs of my misspent youth/young adulthood.

I had terrible nosebleeds as a child and they gradually tapered off. I don’t think I’ve had a non traumatic nosebleed since my early 20s. No dissection here knock on wood I also used to work nights in the emergency department and nosebleeds in children are somewhat common and very rarely anything to be concerned with unless the bleeding lasts for hours without stopping even with pressure and ice or if the child is visibly anemic on presentation. So there’s a more positive anecdote to add to your nosebleed story collection.
