… people are still blaming taco bell for taylor farms’ latest fuckup? even after taylor farms has fucked this up multiple times in the past and taco bell was the first to pull stuff that wasn’t safe to sell?

Gaming@lemmy.zip•8BitDo announce 'Ultimate Software Online' to update controllers in your browser to help Linux gamersEnglish
9·2 天前i really hate these things, because they always require chrome. i can’t update or customize the firmware in my keyboard because it’s only done with fucking via and that barely even works in chrome as it is. my previous keyboard was just QMK and i wrote the firmware myself, updating was just a quick flash from my terminal.
please just let us flash firmwares the so-called “hard way” too, these browser tools suck shit.
somewhere in one of my parents’ photo albums is a picture of one of these that i put together in 1st grade in ~1992
everyone thinks they can pull it off just fine, but believe me, it’s not a bad bet that your IT dept knows better than to bend to someone just dangerous enough to be a problem. it’s probably happened before and that’s probably why the policy is in place.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•It's quite the burden knowing I'm always the smartest person in any given room.
4·5 天前no way, sadists use gentoo. i vastly prefer arch because i often need libraries that are newer than most package managers get in a timely fashion. i use fedora on my server for the opposite reason, but for my workstation, arch wins easily.
a linux beginner would probably need to be a sadist to use arch, but anyone who knows what they’re doing will have a fine time.

1·5 天前itunes also has that in its EULA.
a modern sidekick would go so hard, discord kids would absolutely love it.
i’m really tempted to get a clicks communicator if it doesn’t suck.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Cyberleek Burned 270 Milion dev coinsEnglish
41·5 天前this is fully intended to trick gullible people. it is absolutely about the money.
burning all these dev tokens just stabilizes or increases the price of the remaining tokens, and they couldn’t just sell them either, that would crash the price. they’re selling gta6 clips for $160k.
if you think that burning dev tokens is a sign of good will, you are a mark.
ever tried to talk to a christian about how an omniscient god clearly obviates any concept of free will? they really don’t like that.
“god is all knowing” vs. “i have free will”
christians press both buttons without thinking about it.
stark contrast to the two weird anti-therapy comics on the front page right now.
this comes across like anti-therapy propaganda.

News@lemmy.world•Coin-Operated Elevators in Condominiums and Apartment Buildings Are Becoming More Common
17·8 天前when i watched ds6 all the way through for the first time, there was an episode on the ferengi homeworld that immediately reminded me of this story because quark has to put a quarter in a chair to sit on it.
it’s not for everyone but it definitely doesn’t suck. it gives me a feeling of wanderlust that no other game can (except maybe elite dangerous, but i don’t play that).
i have often found myself needing to manually update packages on distros like fedora or debian because i need a newer version that hasn’t landed in dnf/apt yet. arch doesn’t have that problem. ymmv, obviously, it’s not going to be an issue for everyone.

Technology@lemmy.world•Ubuntu is growing faster on Windows 11 than on native Linux PCs, says CanonicalEnglish
1·9 天前if you read the article instead of just the title, you’d just know it’s WSL instead of having to speculate.

Technology@lemmy.world•Ubuntu is growing faster on Windows 11 than on native Linux PCs, says CanonicalEnglish
7·9 天前the awkwardly-written title is referring to ubuntu via WSL (“on Windows 11”) as opposed to just running linux (“native”).
the article is pretty clear what it’s about, even the caption on the first image straight up says what i just wrote. you read it instead of just reading the title, right?
yeah but there’s also been plenty of times i’ve been just screwed on windows where linux would have let me just go fix it myself, so that’s still “linux is the best thing ever” for me.

the heinz beans i see in the US are just the ones imported from the UK. if anything, the US would be bush’s.
