The Quest 1 isn’t supported by Steam Link so the only way for PCVR is ALVR as far as I know. Back then it was pretty involved to set up but did work nicely. I think by now it should be easier.

Finally, the improved paperclip form has been found!

Not sure about the newer ones, but I’ve got a Quest 1 that is now unsupported and I can use that without an account. Even standalone with free games.

But you can also root the Quest 2 and 3 to use them completely without any ties to Meta.

It costs 685.60 € with the controllers but without the base stations. They are not included and aren’t offered.

The cheapest way to VR is probably a used Quest you never let on the internet.

You should be able to use most of the Frame UI with it. Much to my surprise the Frame controllers themselves default to gamepad mode for the UI. You explicitly have to activate the laser mouse, which is mildly annoying.

So you should be able to control most of the stuff except for window positioning and size.

Hmm, haven’t tried if the touchpads can be used as a global mouse. Probably not at the moment.

Fringe memes are fringe memes.

They have lots of jpg artefacts because they are heavily compressed jpgs. Nothing you can do about it except finding the uncompressed original, which would have a much larger filesize.

As far as I recall all pixel images in PDFs are jpgs. So they will all have varying degrees of artefacts.

Some people are so uneducated in the use of their tools that those that do know how to use them end up being programmers for the whole department when they were hired to do some accounting.
