  • They could’ve absolutely done more.

For one, the senate had the simply majority at the time necessary to prevent Trump from running again in 2024. They also got bogged down in procedural blunders. Dems actually got seven republicans to vote for impeachment. They could easily pushed to ban him from running again via simply majority.

They failed to enact section 3 of the 14th amendment, which they had the ability to do, and lost the opportunity when the Supreme Court ruled on Trump vs. Anderson.

They chose not to steamroll the investigation proceedings, as they didn’t want to be seen as “partisan.” The “Olive branch” strategy is the dumbest strategy against an opponent who is will to go scorched earth, and punish their opposition, once they gain power.

To top it all off, the party’s message of “Trump sucks vote for us,” without addressing the real economic frustrations at the time was one of the biggest failures. Progressive platforms turn out voters, polls show they’re consistently popular with a majority of voters. That’s not the message Dems were selling. And if they were, they did a really lousy job of making it be known, because they got distracted by criticizing Trump, rather than speaking to voters.

  • Trump is an accelerationist’s wet dream. They don’t have to lift a finger, this admin is doing all the work for them.

In a sense, this government is a caricature, a grotesque display of the evils of capitalism laid bare for the public to see. From this, a greater class consciousness will arise.

If he throws the election, this country will be pushed to a level of suffering that will finally boil over into action.

It’s unfortunate so many will suffer greatly in the process, and it’s also unfortunate no one will act until it reaches that point. Such is the course of history.

  • The gets into an interesting debate. What if the majority of voters are subject to self-destructive propaganda?

The framers of the US constitution were fearful of “mob rule.”

Well, I’d argue with our current republic, we’re being ruled by a minority opinion based in self-destructive propaganda. So those who ascribe to majority belief get dragged in the opposite direction of progress by the minority.

Direct democracy puts the burden of proof on the minority who disagrees with majority of opinion. If the MAGA platform is so great, then the minority need to convince the majority that disagree with them that it’s the way to go.

  • Cool, who had the power to convict all the traitors after the 2020 election when this was initially suspected and why wasn’t it done? Why were there no real repercussions for any of it?

I mean, implying that there was no interference isn’t factually correct. But basing your political platform on “Trump bad, he’s a cheater” isn’t going to resonate with a populace that has more pressing concerns.

What’s done is done. Engaging in hand-wringing about it now doesn’t accomplish much.

  • I don’t know how you get his interpretation. Abolishing the senate puts proportional representation towards majority will, which is true democracy. That along with abolishing the electoral college. It doesn’t centralize anything in and of itself. It puts power where it’s supposed to be, in collective body of the voters. Now if the will of voters is to centralize power, so be it. That’s democracy.

Other countries have this sort of direct democratic parliamentary system. Why does the USA always need to be the special snowflake of the world stage? Answer: it’s to mantain the power of the Epstein class and maintain the agenda of economic imperialism.

  • Why are looking for an emotional response when I’m offering factual observations? I’m actually emotionally detached from this. It’s all playing towards the collapse of the empire, historical forces are at work and it’s inevitable. What liberals might have done pre-Reagan and pre-McCarthy is irrelevant to the present. Capitalism ultimately won with Reagan, exacerbated by Clinton, and now the entire system is decaying because of it. The democrats are encouraging this decay along with the GOP.

And this is why I’ve radicalized even further. It’s the gaslighting from mainstream democrats. I already know the GOP are corrupt, fascist and unapologetically capitalist. I’m more interested in why liberals aren’t seeing the contradictions in their own ranks.

  • Better just to abolish it.

The Senate was founded in notions about the “greatness” of Ancient Rome, which was a plutocratic Republic run by the aristocracy. They allowed plebeians later on, which at one point had some influence, but that was always secondary to the interests of the aristocracy.

Makes perfect sense if you look at who the USA was founded for: White, male, Puritan, property-owning slave masters and merchants.

    Abolish aristocratic rule all together.

  • It’s the same thing that happened with the GOP. Moderate neoconservatives got pulled into the fascist/tea party/MAGA movement and lumped together by the liberal establishment. Now they’re stuck there because they’d rather vote within party lines than vote for a lib.

Now libs are getting thrown in the same boat as DSA, including the Marxists and anarchists. The DNC wants to stay relevant, they see leftists are winning and do not want to piss off what’s left of their liberal voting base by siding with the GOP against the DSA, who are proposing very sensible progressive reforms.

The right had painted a target on anyone left of center since the 90s and the rise of alt-right talk radio (Rush Limbaugh). Then they went completely off the deep end when Obama was elected and the brief period of time Dems had control of congress (and ultimately failed because they serve the same special interests).

The two-party ticket is the problem, yet that’s the way it is until DSA-backed candidates gain enough traction in government to finally enact the great split.
