This comic is giving me preternatural flashbacks. Has anyone figured out the code they refer to in issue #2?

I can’t say that I personally have, but it has a good look!
The deliberately messy linework and seeping watercolors make perfect sense here and really fit the entire atmosphere of the comic. The terroir, to pull out a word I recently learned.
Very easy to fall into.
