This album is a pleasant surprise for me! Their debut a few years ago was basic post-punk, which I liked, but it wasn’t really special. This album takes that post-punk foundation and throws a bunch of other stuff at it and it works for me. Some really interesting stuff going on here. Check it out!

    Great album front to back, but the final two tracks, Blackpool Illuminations especially, cap it off masterfully. Early AOTY contender for me, closely followed by Nadine Shah’s Filthy Underneath.

      Agreed. I don’t understand a lot of the criticism this album is getting on sites like RYM. The lead singer is perfect for the witty, sarcastic lines

    Listened to this album all weekend off this post. Vineyard in the North, in particular is a great track. I got a ton of Plastic Beach-era Gorillaz vibes throughout in a great way.

        The song Grifter’s Grief (listening to it rn, thanks again for introducing me to this album). Sounds like a mix between Rhinestone Eyes and Empire Ants
