Has anyone presented a viable alternative? Without such an alternative, all the talk of Biden stepping aside only serves the purposes of the GOP and foreign influence, and I cannot believe that people are falling for it.

What is your threshold for viable in this context? If you’re looking for polling, I don’t think you’ll find it because not much, or any, has been done. If you’re looking for anecdotes, I’d be happy to vote for Pete Buttigieg or AOC over Biden.

There is someone who has done nothing for the past four years but be Joe Biden’s understudy. She can slot into the job today, and be able to do it past 8 PM without needing a nap.

Now if you counter with “I want someone I like!”, well, I can’t help you there. But it seems a bit absurd to suggest we dont have any viable alternative when we elect someone whose entire job description is to do exactly that.

The problem isn’t whether Kamala is competent enough to be President, it’s that nebulous concept of “electability”.

Can she do the job of President? Probably. She could almost certainly do better than Trump, as long as she’s not golfing for a full 25% of a Presidential term.

Can she do whatever the voting public thinks is the job of the President? That’s a much harder question to answer, especially given that (1) she and (2) isn’t white.

Denying he’s a problem helps the GOP. Either way democrats are fucked, instead of listening to people pointing out his issues over the last few years they punched left and called all of us bots and Russians. This is the bed liberals made for themselves and they are finding it’s not very comfortable

Biden can’t string two sentences together and is increasingly worse. At his age and how grueling campaigning is, he won’t be fit for the job come October. Doing it now is the best option. John Stewart talked about it better than I can on Monday. Also, foreign influence is a thing most of the world is used to. I’m not sure what this American obsession is about foreign influence. Lots of famous Canadians endorse American candidates. We don’t hear anything about that. Even though it’s the definition of foreign influence

Nancy Pelosi is 84. No wonder she won’t say he’s too old.

*But always remember to check who’s OP.

It’s not about being too old per se, it’s about being too unhealthy. A person can be 80 and still mentally fit, just like a person could be 60 and totally frazzled.

The only reason age comes up is because there’s a correlation between age and cognitive decline.

Don’t listen to these people who call you some sort of Russian bot. They want to shut their eyes and pretend like nothing is wrong, while we are on the verge of an authoritarian Trump presidency.

Edit: for the record, if Joe Biden is the nominee, you still gotta vote for him. I’m not saying otherwise

This is the best summary I could come up with:

WASHINGTON — Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., held back Wednesday from a full-throated endorsement of President Joe Biden staying in the 2024 race, saying that it’s up to him whether to run but warned the clock is ticking.

We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short," Pelosi said in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” when asked if Biden had her support to be the head of the Democratic ticket.

Pelosi’s remarks are highly notable as she remains a prominent member of the Democratic caucus, as speaker emerita, whose rank and file still look to her for guidance.

The former speaker suggested that she’s told her Democratic colleagues to “hold off” on stating their opinions publicly about Biden staying in the race.

Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado on Tuesday became the first Senate Democrat to publicly say that he doesn’t think Biden can beat Trump.

Biden and the White House have dismissed the idea that he has any major health conditions that affected him that night and the president has emphatically said he’s staying in the race.
