Speaking in general, the main difference I have observed is that the “liberal” instances aka Piefed, LW and the large colonial-power-aligned instances, seem to have decided being federated with any leftist instances who challenge state-backed narratives is legally/politically problematic for them. No wonder, since leftism is becoming increasingly criminalized in the west. There has been a sustained campaign to paint anyone left of the Democrats as an “extremist” and to try to isolate us as much as possible. Previously, I’d say most of the political agitation on Lemmy came from leftists. Now, it seems to be mostly coming from anti-antifa crowd, aka the far right.

For this ban in particular though, I think this was a clear case of PTB. Wren is about as reasonable a user as I have come across on Lemmy.

You have a legit point here. Mystic really shouldn’t be banning people from c/Europe on the basis of anti-genAI sentiment, even if there was evidence of such. I cautioned Mystic against doing that already, but as a mod there’s no easy way to ban from only a subset of your communities without a lot of manual work, so it’s really a side effect of the fact lemmy itself doesn’t expose an easy way to ban selectively. Which is, I agree, unfortunate.

After 25 years at Adobe, he deserves a far worse fate.

Well we have PyLova as an option now, and it’s coming along nicely now it’s been largely stripped of Rimu’s dark patterns. It’s definitely worth considering moving your genAI comms over to AN because they would be more protected from trolls.

Trans women are women, and they should be allowed to identify as such, fully participate in women’s sports, have use of women’s restrooms and other facilites, and be able to join women’s organisations. Do you agree with this comment or not?

They were banned a year ago from dbzer0 for transphobic comments, & also from blahaj. I just banned them from AN as well, to sync up the bans. The fact they are still an admin on SJW speaks volumes about the instance.
