Why aren’t you posting recipes for quiche?
I don’t care that I wandered into a shitposting thread about a powertrippingbastards threads about a shower thoughts thread. I want this thread to be about quiche.
So why aren’t you posting about quiche?
I think so? There was a conversation from a while back about work corps (not dissimilar to the CCC program in the US) for 16-20 year olds? Not forced labor per se but like, public works projects, forestry, that kind of thing. I think whoever referenced them was thinking back on them fondly, like, basically, camping and working with a mixed sex similar age cohort, making lots of friends… etc.
Heh, you gettem’ Jucika

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Was there ever a solid or scientific answers to which came first chicken or the egg?
6·1 day ago100%. But I do want to note for those in the back seats, matrotrophy and integumentation (basically, egglike gametes/ gametophytes) evolved multiple times and independently in other lineages, like plants. So even though plants follow the same “sperm and egg” pattern, its evolution is wholly independent. Turns out investing in the next generation is a broadly advantageous evolutionary strategy.

7·1 day agoJust because animals breed doesn’t make the offspring the same species.
Species is a construct and falls apart very quickly outside of the common barnyard and kidsbook animals. It can be a useful construct for understanding some things, but its not a “thing” that inherently exists in biology.
We can impose an idea on organisms, but they have no obligation to follow it.
He was actually getting the bike out of it. Its acutally where all bikes came from before 1992 and bull clintnn.

politics @lemmy.world•Colorado Democrats brace for their own insurgent earthquake
31·2 days agoWell I can’t really blame Tuesday per se… but their primary was generally a disappointment. And it came on the heals of some other progressive L’s, where just, it seemed like the terminally online component of the left (the tankie-crats) were self-destructing on the only even decent people in those races. At the same time, the field was incredibly “mid” and there was a general sentiment of “this is the best you can do California?” and the results were as disappointing as we expected them to be.
Two races in particular: The governors race and the house race to replace Pelosi. And like with many of the NYC races, these are safe blue seats, so the primary is everything. First with the house race, its a very important seat because its SFO, and like a very very safe seat; whoever won is going to be in congress for easily 40 years. Saikat was the progressive in the race, but local DSA kinda self destructed, and they had trouble gaining a local edge because they also failed to get AOC’s endorsement. I really blame this one on AOC. I don’t think she endorsed because of local DSA, but it really left a turd floating in the punchbowl to not do so.
The second dissapointment is Steyer. And yeah. Maybe California needed to do better in terms of fielding candidates, but at a certain point, you go with what you got.
Then there was the LA race and its associated drama.
Just across the board CA kinda blew it. And not just on election night but in the whole run-up.

Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•Press Sees Mamdani as ‘Kingmaker’ Because They Don’t See Voters as Rational
181·3 days agoI think it’s ok and defensible to make the claim that voters (as a bloc) aren’t rational. Voters vote against their own interests all the time.
That they didn’t vote against their own interests this time this time, that doesn’t mean that the collective shout of thousands of people isn’t irrational on a regular basis.
