“He’s the source of all our pain!”
The man, the myth, the living legend, Sandy Frank was born on this day in 1929. Famous (to us) for bringing many, many, maaanyyy previously obscure and strange films to television, including the Gamera movies. Which they straight up used to just show on TV, without explanation or apology.
Even as late as 2011, Frank was wheeling and dealing, signing agreements with studios like The Asylum. Hoo-boy.
For lovers of the strange and obscure, Frank certainly deserves a big thank-you for all of his work. Without him, we wouldn’t have nine of the most beloved episodes of the “classic era” of MST3K.
And I guess he also produced stuff like Name That Tune and The Dating Game, but who ever heard of those?
“Sandy Frank, Sandy Frank, gads about the house all day!”
