I don’t understand his thinking. The US and other major countries fire off missiles just to shoot them down as target practice all the time. Not to mention that attacking a UN country would be suicide.

Pyongyang’s launch comes after it threatened retaliation against what it said were recent US spy plane incursions over its territory

It also tried to launch a spy satellite in May which failed.

This is why I can’t take them seriously 🙄

I don’t really understand how North Korea continues to exist. I guess they aren’t sanctioned hard enough? I guess it’s hard to get in spies? I guess it’s hard to remove Kim? They seem so weak, but they keep slowly developing into some weird sort of threat.

They’re kept afloat by China, basically. Chaos in NK has the potential to spill over the Yalu and cause problems in China.Plus, Seoul is within artillery range of the DMZ, so any “kinetic” end to the regime is quite risky.

The sanctions on the DPRK are enough of a crime and yet the collective west still pushes the country to see how far they can go with bullying them. The sanctions ought to end now, so that the people of the DPRK get access to resources they need most for a better life. But the constant scare mongering just continues, as the small nation struggles for it’s right to exist against the genocidal American regime.

Again: not American, that’s not a burn mate.

You’re also comparing a country with a flawed democracy with a country with no democracy at all.

You’re either a retard, a troll, or the dear leader is making you work really hard for those food rations.

You’re literally listing powerful American families and comparing them with a country with an enforced direct lineage from father to son. In case you’re not aware, this is called monarchy.

Tell me: was Biden Obama’s son, and Obama Bush’s son?

The American political system might be highly flawed, but at least they are not sending the family of the ones who dare to leave to prison camps.

And if you say that North Korea does not do that, then you have fallen for North Korean propaganda.

I’m not American, so I that’s not a burn, in case you were trying.

Tell me, were those in power for decades, and then passed on their direct rule to their son without an election?

Did they also create legends about themselves? Really absurd stuff like they don’t need to poop?

What I don’t understand is the “and humanize the people of the DPRK.” line. Who is dehumanizing North Koreans, exactly? This is about their government. Regardless of how the government achieves this, be it coercion or brainwashing, you can still see them as people, ya’kno?

can a government simply organize that level of popular participation without the actual support of the people?

          Umm, yes?

all it requires is some good old fashioned US bombers to tip things in the “peoples” favor? For a liberal this makes perfect sense.

No, it doesn’t lol Liberalism isn’t synonymous with 'Murica. I know, huge shocker.

          That’s some grade-A tankie shitposting, though. 👏

Democratic socialism is nearer to anarcho communism than those far right wingers.

The argument in the source, as I understand it, is that democratic socialism doesn’t firmly oppose fascism with force, so tacitly allows it to develop.

Also you want me to prove I’m Brazilian!? How am I supposed to do that?

The most important claim I think he made was that north koreans are starving.

Why are they wasting so much money on their military if they can’t feed their population? Who are they even fighting?

Why does Kim’s family still get to live a lavish lifestyle?

All these things make it a shitty place to be, regardless of how it’s governed.

NK would be better off if they didn’t waste so many resources on their nuclear program and ‘important’ families.

Blaming sanctions doesn’t really make sense when NK clearly isn’t trying to solve the problem themselves. They’re trying to hold the world hostage.

The nuclear weapons are the only thing stopping the U$ from murdering 20% of their population and razing 80% of their buildings. Again.

The sanctions are meant to torture the civilians. It’s siege warfare.
