Still unemployed after 7 months. Reading a lot for future skills, but the software development market is dead right now. I sent hundreds of resumes, and companies either don’t bother to answer, or give negative responses without an explanation. The job offers are opened, then closed, then opened again, it seems like they don’t know who or how to hire. It’s boring and annoying at the same time.
I’m starting to think I should become a freelancer but I have never done that before.
Definitely give freelancing a go. Don’t use websites / apps that claim to be freelancer marketplaces, they’re all overrun by people from low wage countries. Instead, find companies in your local area and approach them directly. Approach not as someone looking for work but as a business looking to create a partnership with another business.

Attended two bushfires this week, where I got to practise back-burning in front of an oncoming firefront, to create a line of black that the fire will hit and go out.
Also did a First-Aid course last week, CPR, cuts, sprains, stings and allergic reactions covered.
It hasn’t been unbearable, so that’s good. I’m still pretty sad but when am I not? I’ve been playing around with an old PC I bought for $20 USD. It’s still surprisingly capable. I wanted to run Free BSD on it but none of my Wi-Fi cards would work with it so I went with CachyOS instead. I’ve also been playing Cyberpunk 2077. I don’t really know what else to do with myself. I’m thinking of learning a language but it’s so hard to pick one. I’m thinking Indonesian, Russian, Polish, Korean, Romanian, or Spanish.
