And we think we can all agree this is not great. Biden has said that he will pursue “emergency authority to shut down the border” until it can get back “under control.” As war funding is bundled up in the immigration negotiations, Biden’s been eager to pursue a deal that unlocks this money while also allowing him to get “tough” on the border by restricting crossings and gutting asylum. This cynical negotiation, using immigrant communities as bargaining chips, is both a moral and electoral failure.

Agreed, Trump was the most honest, representative POTUS the US ever had, and his election was a real feat of true American “democracy.” And I mean none of that as a compliment (though his admin does win a lot of brownie points for being less genocidal and warmongering- not by intent, but by sheer incompetence).
