My old gaming laptop, a Sager NP9752 with a GTX 980m, was a beast when I bought it, but it’s started to feel its age. Though it’s still very usable, I decided it was time for something new. I’m obsessed with small powerhouses, so when I found out about the Ally I was intrigued. For a while, I was indecisive going between the Steam Deck and the Ally. What cinched the deal was the XG Mobile dock. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any in stock, Amazon has it way over priced, and the 4090 version would take it way out of the price I’m willing to pay for such a thing. Luck would have it, I found one Best Buy that had a used 6850 version that was $100 dollars cheaper than MSRP. I’ve been using this setup for a couple of weeks now, and color me impressed. This thing works very well as a laptop replacement. The little annoyances are outweighed by the portability. And I do take it out with me way more than I did the laptop.
