What are your favorite vegetables to plant for the fall?

We’re trying to plan what we want to plant but it’s tricky because we have limited places that get good sunlight.

We were thinking about doing some lettuces/leafy greens mostly that can do alright in the shade.

Broccoli raab / broccolini is great but it’s too early to plant that, since it’ll go to seed immediately in this heat. I have 3 pie pumpkins growing which I love! But it might be a little late for you to plant pumpkins at this point.

Normal broccoli can actually be a pain, because aphids devour it before it has the chance to mature. I’ve had better luck with broccoli raab/ broccoli rabe/ rapini/ broccolini which is related but it’s like… mini broccolis where the stem is also tasty. Since it doesn’t have the huge head, it’s a little bit less of an aphid magnet.

A++, highly recommend. Just unfortunate that you can’t find the seeds locally and have to order offline.

Daikon radish, more for breaking up and nourishing the soil than for the radishes themselves. I’ve done it before earlier in the year, but you should be able to plant them here in late summer or early fall.
