It’s political news. People downvote based on not liking the headline but it’s reporting directly from a Harris campaign official…

But also potentially troubling for Democrats: What Harris’ campaign had thought was one of its best insurance possibilities may also be in peril. Just a few weeks ago, several Harris advisers in interviews pointed to the combination of electoral votes from North Carolina and Nevada as a strong alternative path for Harris should Trump win Pennsylvania and claim its 19 electoral votes.

While North Carolina is still in the campaign’s sights and Democrats maintain strong organization and leadership there, the Harris team is far less bullish about victory, four people with knowledge of the dynamics said.

“Of all of the seven [states], that one seems to be a little bit slipping away,” the Harris campaign official said of North Carolina.

“If I downvote the bad news that means it isn’t happening right?” is one of the most frustrating and sadly common lemmy archetypes.

      • Isn’t that a violation of rule 4?

Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Yea - but that rule can only be enforced by proactive mod monitoring so it’s difficult to actually call out violations for.

If you ever see comments like “Gosh I hate this poster” please do report them…but if they just vote and move on it’s difficult to know why they voted.

Lemmy doesn’t really have good anti-brigading mod tools yet (or, at least, I’m unaware of them)… you can see this in places like c/conservative where absolutely every post and comment is downvoted to oblivion by people who think they’re helping change people’s minds… I’m personally not a fan of conservatives but brigading is just fucking dumb and annoying.
