Sad to see that, but we were stocked with players for that spot. He got some exciting goals that’s for sure (and unfortunately let in some too)
Makes sense. He was on his last year of his contract with an option for another year. Decided to part ways.
I always liked Gutman because he seemed to play with heart every game. Now he can be a defensive liability when he pushes forward, not sure if that comes down to tactics or lack of personnel (Nagbe as a holding mid covered those zones and we are missing a player like that).
I wonder who will step up as left back…Wiley? Hernandez? Luis Abram?
I didn’t realize it was his last year. In that case getting something seems wise.
I love Gutman, but I think he’s lost a step since his injury. He’s completely disruptive when he goes forward and gets in the box, but his defense mistakes have cost us. Overall this is probably a good move by the FO. Unload an underperforming player to enable a defensive midfielder signing with an international slot. I hope Gutman can find his form and success at Colorado.
Well crud. Who’s gonna fill that gap for us? Gutman is, IMO, a high-value, high-effort, low-cost player — exactly the kinda player you hang on to.
It’s a shame because he’s not too much on the books and a very serviceable player.
So what does this mean, like money for the team?
I haven’t been following the team closely this year and the article is behind a paywallWe’re trading him for an international slot for our new DM signing
