This happened last week and I still haven’t had a good night sleep since. It’s a bit of a long read so I can paint a horrible picture.

Went to an an orchestral concert with my lady, dressed to the nines, quite a fancy affair. I joked that I look like she’s trying to rehabilitate me into civilised society because I’m there in my smartest wrinkled get up, covered in tattoos, and she looks like a million bucks.

We decided to leave halfway through the last performance as it was getting late. Because the acoustics in there were so incredible (you can literally hear a pin drop), we had to tip toe out of there. Plus the lights were on but slightly dimmed so one isn’t hidden while making an escape.

The hall doors have quite a lot of tension so one needs to push them but what I didn’t know is that they give in at the end of the push - this is when I fucked up because I slammed that door open SO HARD, it was like a fucking bomb went off. During a soft and serene violin solo. I imagined the hundred or so guests, as well as the conductor and players, all looked back.

I immediately broke into the coldest sweat and literally ran to the car, I swear I was like bright red and pale at the same time. I can probably never show my face at that venue again despite the fact that I have tickets to another show in 2 weeks time.

Convinced there will be a sign up next time saying “PLEASE DO NOT SLAM THE DOORS” accompanied by a grainy photo of me from the security cameras saying “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?”.

We laughed about it on the way home and again in bed that night, thankfully my SO wasn’t bummed about the faux pas. But fuck, I couldn’t sleep and it was the first thing I thought of when I woke up. Cringing on a whole other level.

TL;DR: slammed a door really hard during a violin solo at a fancy orchestra vibe and had to run away from the venue. Don’t know how I’m going to return for the next show in a couple of weeks.
