“We’re committed to entering the e-bike market in a big way and doing it right,”

Well, if they decide to make parts unavailable or overly expensive, like they have with their e-scooters, they won’t be doing the industry any favours.

When I needed a very simple replacement part for a Ninebot Max, the dealer told me that Segway doesn’t provide those parts, and that I would have to purchase an entirely new STEM. This is like telling someone they have to replace an entire bike wheel because valve caps aren’t made available.

Hopped on Aliexpress, picked up the part I needed for a few dollars, and fixed it at home.

Segway has become too propriety for their own good, including software restricting their hardware.

If they pull that with these e-bikes, there’s no way they’ll get very far. Consumers might only need to be burned once before never returning to the brand.
