    Explanation:

    During World War II, despite opposition from Canada, Britain,[27] and the United States, Charles de Gaulle’s forces seized the archipelago from Vichy France, to which the local administrator had pledged its allegiance, in December 1941. In referendums on both islands, the population endorsed the takeover by Free France by over 98%.[27][28]

    De Gaulle also sabotaged resistance actions because he hated communists more than nazis, proclaimed himself leader of the resistance even though it existed before and without him, became a pseudo-dictator that let a few massacres happen for no reason other than his arrogance, and destroyed further the political structure of France which is the only reason new dictator-wannabes like Macron are now doing all this shit.

    So yeah, not as bad as Napoleon if you want to compare other French “leaders” but not really a shining example.
