A lot of the old guard don’t like it, although I personally thought it was not only time to move away from the slur, but that Elks was a great choice. Problem is, the team was already bad, then got worse after the change, due mainly to terrible management. Unfortunately, some folks are taking their poor record since the change as a reason to justify reverting to the past instead of building the future.

Oh wow, it goes deeper than I realized.

Regardless of which name Edmonton fans prefer, former players Chris Morris, now the team’s president and CEO, and Ed Hervey, now general manager, have brought back the franchise motto: “Once an Esk-mo, Always an Esk-mo.”

A sign bearing the slogan has been restored above the entrance to the Elks’ locker room.

What an embarrassment to the CFL and Canada. I like sports as a break from the depressing signs of how fast society has started going backwards in terms of progress. I liked Tre Ford. Now, I guess I have a team to root against. Edmonton 0-22 this season, let’s go!!!
