WGWATL - What Grows Well in Atlanta
Thought I would do a series of posts about what grows well for me here. Both in containers and in the yard.
Top of the list is hibiscus, which surprised me. My partner and I were given a series of them over the years, and both the hardy and tropical variety have done well.
All have been kept in containers and moved indoors for the winter. At various times that has been in a basement space or a greenhouse.
The hardy variety will die back and should be pruned to the ground to overwinter. They might survive in the ground here, but I have not personally tested that.
The tropical variety needs to be kept warmer for the winter. But ATL certainly provides warmth in the summer! They bloom like mad, and kept blooming deep into the fall in the greenhouse.
