Bibi and Hamas both thrive when there is no hope for peace and when Israelis and Palestinians hate one another

More recently, Netanyahu stated in 2019 that he had allowed Qatari money to support Hamas as a tactic to keep Palestinians divided. “Whoever is against a Palestinian state should be for” this arrangement, Netanyahu reportedly said, because it cut Hamas off from the PA, making a viable Palestinian state impossible. For him, even the evil of Hamas was preferable to a Palestinian state. As Tal Schneider put it in The Times of Israel, “Israeli policy was to treat the Palestinian Authority as a burden and Hamas as an asset.”

    O.O

    What a scumbag he is.

It shows that even with right-wing policies, terrorism persists. Israel has the right to defend itself but should also seek peaceful solutions through negotiations with Palestinian groups to achieve long-term security.

It not only flares up it’s an integral part of the vicious circle of violence.

Each sides actions fuel the hate of the other, and reignite and deepen it, because those actions are rooted in hate and as such perpetrate the kind of violence that breeds hate…

The identification and suppression of an other is sort of the point of conservative politics. Crisis breeds conservative politics. If both sides cause crisis for each other …

It’s obviously not a law of nature, but it seems mediation and/or threatening from a 3rd party is almost required to break out of it.

Don’t forget indoctrinated nationalism. When you’re taught your country can do no wrong, you tend to lead that way.

Bibi made an especially terrible decision when making a coalition with the extreme nationalists.

Even though I broadly support their war against Hamas, Netanjahu is a fucking disaster.
