Further details:
Arteta has until November 21 to respond to the charge. Once a charge is issued, the “participant” has three further business days to reply. A regulatory commission hearing would then take place within 10 business days of the response from the “participant”.
What did Arteta say in the first place?
“We have to talk about the result because you have to talk about how the hell this goal stands up and it’s incredible,” he said.
“I feel embarrassed but I have to be the one now coming here to try to defend the club and please ask for help, because it’s an absolute disgrace that this goal is allowed it’s an absolute disgrace.
“Because it’s not a goal for many reasons it’s not a goal, for more than one reason at least, it’s not a goal and it’s too much at stake here. We put so much effort, it’s so difficult to compete at this level, and it’s an absolute disgrace.
“Again, I feel embarrassed having more than 20 years in this country, and this is nowhere near the level to describe this as the best league in the world. I am sorry.
“That makes it even worse (that there were three checks). It makes it even worse. You just need to see one image, if you need, and you have any doubt you look at the second one, and if this is a goal, okay, that’s fine.”
Arteta’s comments were supported by Arsenal, with the release of a club statement that “wholeheartedly” supported him and criticised the “unacceptable” officiating errors.

Its pretty fucking obvious, everyone gets charged by the FA if they say anything like this
when you try to fight the system the system tries to squash you. look at the coordinated media/pundit response to getting VAR back on track.
So the refs butcher the call, the coach says he’s embarrassed for them, he gets charged and the refs continue to butcher calls……sounds about right
I mean, I know it’s been shit reffing , but you can’t argue he hasn’t bought the game into disrepute, when we are still talking about a game that happened 13 days ago surrounding a referee and VAR decision that ultimately was correct?
I’m fully in the camp that the PGMOL need to up their game and be as transparent, but quicker, and I know that the whole VAR system needs looking at, but it’s done now, can we move on?
VAR needs to be an independent entity separate from PGMOL.

Nothing he said hasn’t been said before by other managers, but I can’t think of any other examples where they have gone on at such length about it.
I’m not disagreeing with what he has said, only that the reason he was likely done for misconduct is the extent of his complaint rather than the content.
Because it’s somehow illegal to criticise referees in football even if they are bad.
Usually if you are bad at your job your boss tells you what to change or fires you. They don’t want that. They want to stay bad at their job. It’s the only explanation.
