In the Relaunch novelverse, Kirsten Beyer did a great job with the post Nemesis return of Voyager to the Delta Quadrant starting with her book Full Circle.
The books exploring the post Dominion War Gamma quadrant on the other hand seemed to have promise initially, but petered out.
On one hand I desperately want to know what happened to the Living Witness Doctor, but on the other, the mystery makes the ending of that episode so much better.

Yeh, perhaps it’s one of those things Star Trek should leave unanswered, like they should have done with Breen. The Breen are supposed to be a meme!
They did do something with the butt bugs in the IDW comics recently…
