When I search “human nesting behavior” all I get is stuff about expectant mothers. I’m thinking of nightly nest building.

When we came down out of the trees we mostly switched to caves and ground windbreak shelters. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nest-building_in_primates But we do certainly maintain a living area. If you were dumped in the woods, you’d still clear a space to sleep, make a bed of leaves, and build a windbreak.
