Too many games. International play is unnecessary. Extra in season tournaments unnecessary. Money grabs cost you talent

Yes, that new ucl format will destroy some careers. They should add a minute quota tbh preferable to see players play great football for less minutes than on the stands with injury for the whole season

Probably due to all the injury time stoppages being added on. Longer matches at the same intensity. Injuries inevitable.

apparently studies show the winter world cup has had a significant impact on the increase in injuries in europe in general also

I believe before this season, the majority of injuries happened in the last 15 minutes of game. Or that that’s where the largest uptick was… Anyway. Those last 15 minutes were the largest worry for medical staff.

Now that we have an increased amount of time with the ball in play, that time frame will have changed for this season, and be earlier.

Ultimately, the total time for the game to take place isn’t the issue. It’s the amount of time the ball is in play. Which has gone up, as that was the point of the rules changes around time wasting, and how extra time is calculated.

Some of the blame also falls at the feet of team owners and managers. Ultimately, a team isn’t forced by FIFA or UEFA to always start their best 11. But when you want to win every game, you will always put out the team that you feel gives you the best chance of winning every competition you compete in.

Managers could just play youth players in the cups, get knocked out early and then not have to worry about it. But they want to win, the fan’s want to win, and the teams want to make money.

At International level, UEFA now makes sure that teams have to field the best XI every time because Euro seeding will based on best qualification performance.

At club level, you can’t be serious blaming the managers. Of course they will always do their best to try and win, thats their fk job. Also using Young players as match filter and get L every time they play is the worst Youth development method

Anything to do with the new pitches being used by any chance? And the difference between the training ground pitches to the ones in the stadiums?

Funny that, other teams get injuries and play terrible…. Almost like not having half your team available makes a difference

Van Dijk said in an interview there should be less matches. When asked if he’d take a pay cut as they would be paying less, he said no?!?!

It’s got to swing both ways, less matches, less money. Problem is, footballers are greedy

basically anyone not an owner of a footbal club

isn’t it more about fifa/eufa etc not necessarily individual clubs owners?

I was under the impression more games meant more money for owners so I figured that was the reason for the increase in games etc etc however I am not aware of the actual reason
