He is the 2nd most successful manager England has ever had. Respect the man ffs.
Everyone that hates England will never say a bad word about Southie. May he live and manage forever.
OK, so not Premier League so expecting this post to get removed fairly soon but in the meantime I’ll bite.
What is the best national team we’ve beaten on our tournament runs? I DARE you to say the worst Germany in decades.
There are players in this team who have no right to be anywhere near the squad given the number of exciting players coming through. Meaning that when Euro 2024 comes around we’ll be stuck with the same dross and the players who deserve to be there are nowhere near the setup, and sycophantic Southgate suckers will be saying ‘hurr but they don’t have the international experience’. You know why that is? Because your ‘so successful’ manager decided to give 180 minutes to fucking Maguire in DEAD RUBBER games.
Respect him, sure, but he is wasting a seriously exciting generation of England players and we look rotten.
I think England are just at their level,I’d say England has two world class players ,Kane and Bellingham,a couple more who could become world class and the rest are all solid 7/10’s in the premier league, the fact that the premier league is the best league in the world doesn’t equate to England being at the top level.A ridiculous easy qualification process doesn’t help them either to be honest.
As soon as England play elite opposition they crumble. It’s been a joy to watch this man squander one of the best national teams your country has ever produced.
I guess we found Southgate’s burner account.
I honestly believe he doesn’t get enough stick and that makes me happy, because he stays in charge.
- non English person
I actually liked his work upto and including the 2018 world cup but since then I’ve not been a fan atall.
Yes he got to the Euro final but also shit bed during the game, giving Saka the 5th pen (who was evidently overwhelmed by the occasion) was one of the most mind-blowing decisions I’ve ever seen.
I will give him credit for creating a better atmosphere in England camps and it being a place players are looking forward to going to (compared to the golden generation era by their own admission) but I fear we’re going to waste this generation of players under Southgate the same way Belgium did entrusting Hazard/KDB and co to Wilmots, such a shame.
He’s a halfwit championship manger at very best. Truly a donkey in the modern game
OP, why do you think he deserves respect? He hasn’t won us anything, is hypocritical with his beliefs and statements, please give me something to praise him on.
England has tons of talent, but he still has them playing timidly. He should be very aggressive with a front line of Kane, Foden and Bellingham.
Plus he keeps playing his favorites (Maguire, Henderson) that shouldn’t be in the squad.
I agree he does get too much stick. You can only beat what’s in front of you tbh he’s done that. Reached a quater final Semi final and Final. First England manager to win a shoot out since venables. England dominated France in the quarters. Chellini should have been sent off in the final. It’s just bad luck. Let’s look at previous managers: Sven never got past the quarters. McClaren didn’t even qualify with the Golden generation. Capello got destroyed by Germany. Hodgson played for a draw against Italy went out at the group stages with 1 point, got destroyed by Iceland,is he a top manager?no Has he Done his job?yes
He should have been replaced a while ago. Guy always makes questionable squad picks, which wouldn’t be a big deal if they had consistent results, or even looked consistently good. This squad may have the best attackers in all international football, if not it is damn close. Depth in the attacking half is crazy good for this team to have been so lacking in attack under Southgate.
The bar is rather low lol.
respect deez nuts
I’ll never in my life forget introducing my friend to football this World Cup and him saying “these guys play like Neanderthals” while watching stones and maguire exchange passes for the first time
