Both caused a disruption in each teams season, adding unnecessary drama and conflict. Both players also had high expectations of them, but both ended their time at the club poorly due to their interviews (yeah Lukaku’s still technically at Chelsea, but he doesn’t really feel like one anymore with him getting loaned out every season).

Ok, I got it. Lukaku takes the cake but why? They’re top of league amrite? Was it the manager, players, club late on the payroll??

Ronaldos was after he had been dropped and was clearly out of the new managers plans. He was forcing his way out on a free imo.

Lukaku did his less than 3 months after joining whilst under the same manager he signed for. On top of that he did it when there was no negativity around him with supporters.

I would love to sit here and tell you that Lukaku’s was worse - it was. But Ronaldo dropping that interview right before a World Cup definitely takes a medal of its own.

The Cristiano interview, felt like there was a lot of unnecessary outrage over Lukaku’s interview, players give interviews to similar effect all the time. Cristiano simply wanted a way out and chose to throw everyone under the bus to feed his ego. There was a way forward with Lukaku’s interview, Chelsea simply reacted in the worst way possible.

In my opinion Ronaldo’s interview was totally valid - he’s seen United back in 04 compared to now n was disgusted with the standards etc.

Lukaku just wanted out of a sinking ship tbh kinda scummy etc but I understand why he did especially after the previous season that he had and suddenly he’s back at Chelsea

Cristiano Ronaldo only told truths, difficult to say, difficult to understand at that time, but today everyone understood what he intended to warn. Unfortunately for Manchester United he was absolutely right.

ronaldo’s was more tolerable, lukaku’s just rubbed everyone the wrong way and seemed disrespectful to the fans.
