Is there even a good reason for this and seems weird sticking two title rivals in that time. Can imagine it will also be very difficult for Liverpool fans travelling up from London so early to get to the game on time

    Because they agree to it. I’ll get downvoted for this by all the tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists but Liverpool agree to these kickoff times before the season begins. They get more money from TV rights to play at that time. Also their main sponsor, Standard Chartered, does a LOT of business in Asia and I wonder if that has a lot to do with it as well.

      Not in this instance. It was supposed to be a half 5 kick off but was changed due to safety co concerns by Manchester city council
