I often have a work-before-play mindset, for example, feeling like I must do the dishes before going on a bike ride.
But if I would be late meeting the friends I’m riding with, I can let the dishes wait. They’ll still be there, and no harm is done. Why should I feel guilty about letting them sit for a few more hours? I don’t know, but I still sometimes do.
In Calvin’s place, playing while it’s still light out makes sense. It’s much harder and colder to play at night in the dark. Do the homework when it’s dark. The only risk is that he doesn’t leave enough time to finish the homework.
I really love this one, especially the first panel.
