We’re a poverty franchise, the fucking redditors could’ve done a better job building a team.

Taking a TE that high when, Jamar chase, micha, Devonta smith, Jaylen waddle, Penie Sewell, Patrick Surtain, were taking right after. Is why we will be a poverty franchise for decades

Then the following year taking the slowest wide receiver when our defense was ass and Garrett Wilson was on the board.

Then the following year taking a RB when we have an elite run game already, when arguably the best player in the draft is still on the board when historically we have had the worst pass rush in decades

Fuck my dad for making me watch this team and cursing me with being a falcons fan.

It’s not a choice for most people. I mean if I had chosen a favorite team it would have been easy to go with Montana and the 49ers because they were THE SHIT back when I started watching football.

Unfortunately I grew up in Savannah, Georgia and my dad watched the Falcons, Braves, Hawks and Dawgs like MANY people in Georgia. No choice about it. It’s forced on you.

You’ll adapt. You’ll figure out and finally ignore the hype train that gets going in the spring and hits full speed in late July. You’ll get your Sundays spoiled for just the satisfaction of beating the Saints.

I saw us never going above .500 at any point, but it’s safe to say that the NFC South Champion will have to face either a red hot Philadelphia Eagles squad or a red hot Dallas Cowboys squad. I would rather face Dallas than a mad Eagles squad.

Bro the fact that we didn’t build up a DL or OL and decayed a TE is the problem. The lions are 8-3 because their OL is elite and so is their DL. They gave an average qb.

Yup, the 90% of Falcons fans wanted Matt Ryan gone, and they have gotten their wish. I wish we would have held onto that Super Bowl and brought home the Lombardi. That would have eased the pain of how bad we are now. Then again, we wouldn’t be in this spot if the Falcons managed to survive the comeback.

I don’t know about that. Maybe. Winning the Super Bowl would’ve extended Dan Quinn’s tenure with the team. Maybe we avoid hiring Arthur Smith. Perhaps we don’t carelessly discard our ethical and moral compass and try to acquire a sexual predator, thus we don’t publicly humiliate our franchise quarterback, who sticks around for a few more seasons allowing us a smoother transition between quarterbacks. Hard to say.

However, what I do know is that , in 2016, we were only into year 2 of Julio’s “Falcon-For-Life” contract, and then we doubled down 3 years later. That contract killed us for the foreseeable future. We still would’ve been handcuffed financially.

I don’t know. Just a crappy situation all around.

I don’t think the issue is the players drafted, Pitts, London and Bijan are all fantastic players, but Smith is completely clueless in how to use them. We need a QB and a coach that is willing to use the weapons available on offense

Get a RB that can’t run routes or run power? C-Patt is out-running him today.

Get a pass blocking guard that can’t run zone plays?

Get a slow WR when Olave or Wilson were on the board?

Try for Watson because the owner is nuts?

I’ve had it with ASs, but this is Terry’s team. He can’t evaluate in the draft for shit.

I still don’t mind the Bijan pick. If Allgeier was the lead back, we’d be even worse right now on offense with his 3.4 yds a carry average. In an ideal world, it would’ve gone:

    • Never hire Arthur Smith

    • 2021: QB Justin Fields - have Matt mentor him for a year

    • 2022: WR Garrett Wilson - better prospect and bank on the chemistry they had at Ohio State

    • 2023: RB Bijan Robinson - keep surrounding the young QB with talent

Add in one of those TEs like LaPorta, and we would’ve been fine on offense. Then, similarly build the D via free agency and trades.

I mean if you’re gonna play hindsight then just trade a fourth for Deandre Swift, he’s like 90% of Bijan’s talent and then you can spend your top 10 pick on a more important position. But of course that’s exactly what the Eagles did because they’re much smarter than us and the best team in the league.

It was pretty clear beforehand that this team did not need to spend all its early draft capital on offensive skill positions when our D-line and QB room we’re among the worst in the NFL.

We just blew 1998 and 2016 when it mattered most. But the 90’s, 00’s, and 10’s our franchise was always in the mix in playoff contention. We never had a drought out of the postseason more than 3 years in row, and with Vick and Ryan in the GA Dome, never had more than 2 straight losing seasons. Since our 2nd year of Mercedes Benz Stadium our franchise has been its longest playoff drought since the 80’s in Fulton County Stadium.

In general, this franchise’s biggest problem has been passing on generational O-linemen and defense players (edge rushers) from legit schools who got that spiciness, that sauce, that swagger, that dawg in them, that strong leadership that would put no nonsense pressure on the locker room to get the job done, the type of defense players you see on the Eagles, Cowboys, 49ers, Ravens, Bengals, Steelers, etc. rosters, you don’t get that in Atlanta because our franchise fails to draft those type of players, we prioritize skill position players high while we go for soft guys at the D-line and O-line who can’t do anything here. That falls on Arthur Blank and Rich McKay up front, I’m sorry….

Ive used those 2 games to criticize ridder ever since we drafted him.

All you have to do is watch those 2 games (i can have the links of anyone wants them)

You see uga defense and bama defense each having at least 5 nfl defenders on their team… and ridder not being able to do anything when he also has nfl guys on his offense.

He just isn’t good unless his offense extremely over matches the defenses he is playing

And to he honest we have given him weapons here that outmatch most defenses at least in our division and he still cannot consistently run the offense much less win. He just can’t handle it. And smith is going to get fired for trying to make the offense work with him.

Smith offense worked good enough with ryan and mariota for as bad as those teams were. And things are probably a lot different if we started Heinicke from the beginning. Instead ridder cost us games in historical fashion and the fanbase and team have turned on each other the players and the coaches etc .

Its a dumpster fire mainly cause of ridder imo. Might be a dumpster fire either way but not as bad with another QB that can at least run an NFL offense

Shits funny because the fans who witnessed the Falcons do dumb things time after time knew from year 1 the new regime wasn’t about shit. Blank has been the owner for over 20 years and still hasn’t learned a damn thing. How do you allow your new hires to kick off their rebuild by drafting a fucking TE top 4, and following that up with 2 more skill picks when the defense has been shit our whole lives. Philly and SF will continue to be great because they invest in the trenches, and even when their lines are good, they keep adding.

Meanwhile we’re gearing up to draft Brock Bowers next, I’m sure.

Spending all those picks for Julio set the franchise back years, despite the fact JJ is going to the HoF, and we tripled down.

Craziest part is these idiots spending premium resources on RBs and TEs while going bargain shopping for the most important position on the team which is the QB. Smith is really that arrogant when he’s not even half the playcaller or game planner than Shanahan is.

I don’t think they ever thought he was the answer for the future but it didn’t hurt to try him out (well maybe if they thought this was the year for a big playoff run then yes it did hurt). Picking up a QB outside the 1st, and maybe even 2nd, round is a gamble. They got the picks they thought they really wanted and then picked up a guy they thought they could help become a starter. Only mistake front office made was thinking this coaching staff was gonna help Ridder improve into anything above average. Maybe he becomes the next Tome Brady under another coaching staff but def not this one

I knew Smith’s first year. He completely abandoned the style of play the falcons have had for so many years and opted for an overly complicated offense that leaves the QB vulnerable to being killed in the backfield. For two years or QBs have had an insane number of turnovers. It’s amazing to me that we didn’t draft a QB years before Matt Ryan left the organization.
