The league is truly suffering from terrible offensive line play for a multitude of reasons. Brady just spoke about it, the shortened camp and coaching quality.

I’ve been hearing for years also about the decline in people allowing their kids to play football during school years and that we’ll start seeing a difference in quality players once they reach nfl age, which is like now. I wonder if we’re seeing a bit of that in addition to everything else you mentioned

In my experiences as a high school coach the kids who aren’t playing anymore are the unatheltic ones that wouldn’t have made an impact anyway. The roster may only have 70 players instead of 100 like in the 90s but only scrubs aren’t coming out

It’s not like people are born naturally athletic or not. Sure genetics play a role but you see more unathletic people because less people are playing that sport. If those unathletic people had been playing since they could stand on 2 feet I’d bet they’d be pretty athletic.

Tbh there isn’t really an alternative sport for kids that are 6’2” 260 lb in high school, if anything the lines should be the least affected despite the fact that they are the most dangerous to actually play

It wasn’t just him, Edelman said it at year beginning about how the NFLPA doesn’t want them to succeed with how few padded practices there are and they don’t practice as a crew nearly as much now. Linemen need those practices to start gelling as a unit
