Zaha leaves, they’ve needed a proper goal scorer for donks, a LW Zaha replacement and a new RB since AwB left, yet they spend €25mill on seriously injured Franca. He finally gets fit, makes like one sub appearance, underwhelms and is never used again?. Then Hodgson slags him and Rak sayki off.

Baffling goings on around recruitment at Palace tbh. What a dumb way to navigate that summer just gone.

Then Ayew who must have some of the worst stats for an “attacker” I’ve ever seen in the premier league, gets yet another new contract? Whole thing is bizarre

Ayew is fine, most people were fine with him being given a new contract - i’m not sure why neutrals who clearly don’t watch us play seem to have such strong opinions on it

I’ve watched every single Palace game for the last 3 years. My entire family lived right near the stadium. My Nan, Grandad and Uncle are all Palace fans. They’ve become my second team.

Don’t assume things. Ayew is not fine - he’s garbage.

He’s not garbage at all though, genuinely baffles me how people can watch us and think that! We should probably be looking for improvements but he’s still in our best XI when fit, and is a good squad player otherwise, offering him a new contract is perfectly reasonable.

Feel Ayew has done better than expected, particularly this season and last. It’s not always about scoring and assisting, but seems to help the team a lot when playing and last season managed every PL game

Yeah exactly, he’s not Eze or Olise but he still puts in a shift and is hardly one of the main problems with our team, never understood why he always seems to get singled out as some kind of liability for us

We’re going to get a manager the sack this season. We used to do it in the Championship all the time.

This is what the ‘Teams Like Luton™’ mentality does to clubs.

Tbf he has such bad luck with injuries, and he was pushing for us to buy so we had more depth. Can’t really blame him too much

Yea he can only do so much with our roster, especially attack when our best 2 have barely seen a match together. Weird slant

It’s a completely different game when Eze and Olise start vs when they do not. I really wished they could have kept Zaha.

4-4-2 is abit outdated…why not switch to 4-2-3-1 see how that goes…Zaha gone but they still got the very useful Eze and Olise

We do play a 4231/433 most of the time, sometimes reverting to a 451 when we need to just tighten up. 442 is our Hail Mary, chucking Mateta and Eduoard on at the same time.

Just so bored of it all. Surviving in the premiership without mega financial backing is just a soul destroying experience. Occasionally you might get a good run or make a few decent signings but it’s very hard to sustain that and inevitably you start dropping back to mid table / lower half.

Is anyone actually surprised by this? Like when I heard he was going back to Palace yet again I just honestly felt sorry for Palace fans. Roy has seen better days and tbh managers have moved on a lot. The standard of managers in the pl is very high imo and Roy just falls way short of the mark. We have pep, klopp, then arteta, emery, howe, ten haag, de zerbi, ange all clearly better than Roy and that’s just of the top of my head. Palace need a newer manager to make use of some of the really talented players u have

Omg it’s actually happening. Clubs are realizing that hiring the likes of Allardyce and Hodgeson is a shit idea

If Palace wants to actually push to escape mid-table they need to go the Villa route and cash out on an actual top coach from abroad

We can’t afford one or the players he’d want. Burnley outspent us. We are much closer to Luton than Villa for finances.

I can only assume you meant Textor who’s just a minor shareholder and investor.

He’s sure as shit not been willing to bankrolling a big spend anytim
