I’ve been feeling a bit depressed and I don’t know exactly why. My (19F) girlfriend Nikki (18F) just told me she loves me. I said “Ok”. Then she said she couldn’t wait to spend time with me and I said “Cool” because I didn’t know how to respond.

She then asked if I was alright and I told her I was depressed. She asked if she could help and I said “No but I have Max”. She said she was here for me too and I said “Ok well I know that”.

Then she apologized and I told her not to, and that it wasn’t her fault I was depressed.

    Yeah man, you’re the AH. You obviously aren’t into her, you’re just stringing her along.

        Don’t listen to OP. They’re just baiting you on the “if it’s not perfect, bail” train. You are depressed, it’s going to mess with how you react and blunt emotions. The fact that you’re aware of it is a good step. The next is to continue to action on it and above all: communicate. Don’t just pull in to yourself.

          If you read all of the OP’s posts about this situation, it’s clear that their actions are harmful to the girl Nikki. That’s what makes OP an asshole. Sucks that they’re depressed. My wife struggles with that, too. I have a lot of sympathy. But the depression doesn’t absolve OP of responsibility for the pattern of behavior toward the GF.

              I normally don’t either, but OP has been posting on here pretty regularly about their situation with their girlfriend and Max, so when I hit the part of this post where they named-dropped someone named Max with no further explanation I checked to see if it was the same person.
