If an opportunity presents itself to trade Pitts in a deal to get into the top 10 for a QB or in a deal to get draft assets to help us move up should we take it?

I really like this QB class and prefer Daniels. Unfortunately it seems pretty clear Daniels will rise up draft boards and probably end up in the top 8. I don’t think Pitts will fetch a first, but he can probably net a couple of day 2 picks. Personally I’m not sold on Pitts development as a TE or WR. A change of scenery might do him good at this point. We should have two seconds when ridley is extended or tagged. I like getting a deep threat in the second round of a deep WR class. I like Xavier Worthy or Brian Thomas. I ran a mock where I moved up to get Daniels at 5, Thomas in the second, and a safety in the second.

Where are people at on Pitts development and the idea of trading him?

Could see us doing the DJ Moore type package last year if Ridder doesn’t turn out. Trade Pitts, 1st, 2nd, and maybe a few late rounders to get into the top 5?

That’s what I’m thinking. Or move Pitts to a contender for some picks we then use to get the QB

I will say this: with another year to get healthy and a quality NFL starter, I think Pitts is an All Pro level receiving TE. I’d keep him another year to see how his knee is next year…just need the quality QB

It’s a catch 22 with the injury and QB situation. Right now he seems like a depreciating asset

You dont need a great knee to play 50% of the snaps and run long developing routes that dont work with lousy pass pro and terrible plays/route concepts.

Well yeah. I am no expert but it seems like playing 50% of the snaps and getting a token 2-3 catches a game isnt really fully utilizing #4 draft pick capital.

It would help if he had someone to throw to him. We probably won’t get a 1st for him so why bother. If we could get a qb for him I’d do it but I don’t see that happening

If you don’t have a franchise QB and you can trade a singular player to get an actual franchise QB you do it every single time.

What is interesting is that we could have maybe made the same trade as the panthers did last draft to move up to 1. At that point Pitts + a higher first round pick than the panthers may have been a better deal for the bears.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I wonder if they considered that and who we would have gotten.

I wasn’t even considering it but this is so well put and thought out I’m just gonna go with whatever you say.
