Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Stuck between living in America, China, or Japan... Which would you choose?
0·15 hours agoUnfortunately, having paperwork in order does not protect you from ICE. They do not care about the law and will abduct you as you are walking into/out of any immigration hearings. They routinely ignore judge’s orders to release people and have no accountability for any harm or damage they cause. Sure, you might get yourself out in a week or two IF you have a good lawyer, but not before they do whatever they want to you in the meantime

51·17 hours agoWhat is your purpose here? All you’ve done is argue with people who warn you to not come to the USA. You’ve been told several times that it is not only dangerous to foreigners, but also to actual natural born citizens, the schools are currently fighting against an anti-intellectualism take over, banning subjects and books that don’t align with Christian beliefs and arresting students that say killing people is wrong. ICE is patrolling airports (where you would come into the country) and arresting anyone who is just a little too dark or just that they feel like arresting. It is not only unsafe for you to come here, it is a bad idea to come here for the academia as well.
All of this you have been ignoring and downplaying and arguing with. If you’re so sure it’s a good idea, then sure, come to the States and pray you don’t get blackbagged and never seen again. It feels like you’re not here to get honest opinions, but just to argue and ignore anything you don’t like
Yeah, the ground is dirty. I prefer table beef

41·1 day agoYour knowledge of the USA seems woefully out of date. Trust me, for your safety, do not consider moving to the United States right now

3·1 day agoWhile I agree moving to the US right now is extremely stupid and dangerous, ESPECIALLY while ICE is bored and prowling our airports and OP seems to be absolutely unaware of the world around them to a dangerous degree, I have to ask:
Are you THE Poem_for_your_sprog and why aren’t your posts in wonderful, whimsical poem form???

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If you give the fae a false name which others would identify you as, can they still use that false name to control you?
3·1 day agoWell, in that case, being there are no stupid questions, it would circle back around to be relevant to this community then, no?

2·1 day agoMight not be a bad idea to specify which RPG, as there might be already a mechanical answer, or, if not, an answer probably more in line with the general vibe of the RPG you’re playing, rather than just answers relating to the wildly diverse lore/mythology of faelike creatures in general

politics @lemmy.world•Speaker at CPAC calls to deport 100 million people, most of whom would be US citizens
2·2 days agoWow. I don’t think I could find a stupider take if I tried. You’re almost right, but totally lost it. It would certainly eliminate at least half of the insanely wealthy population
To be more specific, American farmers vote against handouts and vote for things that ruin the economy, then beg for handouts, then go bust and blame leftists for it
As much as I am glad No Kings had so many people attend it, and I am glad for the small good it does, it barely counts as a protest.
There are no goals, no demands, no threats. It didn’t inconvenience anyone (especially not the people in charge of the country) or cause commotion in the least. It was on a saturday with predefined start and end times.
In other words, it accomplished very little other than potentially being a networking event for like minded people. If everyone who showed up to a No Kings event actually protested, things would be changing the next fucking day

Linux@lemmy.ml•On the unfortunate need for an "age verification" API for legal compliance reasons in some U.S. states
1·3 days agoYeah, once everyone gets comfortable with being asked their age, then it’ll go to requiring a ‘realistic’ age instead of accepting someone born 1/1/1900, then it’ll move to requiring proof of your age

21·5 days agoIt’s not necessary to announce that you are blocking someone. You’re not so important that everyone cares who you do or do not block, and acting like you are is boomer mentality. All it does is soothe your own hurt feelings. Just block the person and move on

politics @lemmy.world•Senate Democrats square off with each other in ‘spicy primaries’
1·7 days agoNo, I don’t mean Harris promised the same thing, considering Sanders was nowhere near the running when Harris was. Trump won his second term not because his promises, he won because he cheated (and then publicly admitted as much.)
You either have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about or even what’s going on, or you’re just a shill trying to make it seem like nobody wanted progressive candidates. I’m done arguing with a bot

politics @lemmy.world•Senate Democrats square off with each other in ‘spicy primaries’
1·7 days agoYou seem to be weirdly disconnected from the reality of voters and it feels like you’re trying to subtly discourage anything that would be better from the current state of things.
Bernie was popular with voters in general. He would have won the primary and then the presidency if he had the chance to. People voted Trump because he promised change and Hillary just promised more of the same. People were hungry for change at (apparently) any cost and got fucked when Trump was the only option.

Okay, and? I’m talking about the USA, specifically. The person above me implied keeping your paperwork in order will protect you from ICE, and I said that was false. I was not talking about China, nor Japan
