It’s still faster for me to tell you that you are an idiot for calling me with a phone call you made to me than it is for me to type out a reply as a text message.

But that requires a commitment! Can’t be put into that box!
God I hate text messaging. Instead of pissing away half a day or more sending text messages back and forth, call me and I will solve the problem you texted me about in less than a 1 minute. 5 minutes if you require a technical explanation.
Fookin’ waste of my time and day.

4·1 day agoEven that doesn’t always work. There is one channel I know of that got auto banned despite using live shots of everyone doing live introductions of their stories.
I also forgot about the early Dutch press operators that old Bill Caxton hired that gave us the silent h in words like ghost because that was close to ghast. And wh got added because they thought it looked better the the standard hw that was common at the time. Ok, that one is kind of a wash.
The standardization of spelling that printing presses require added a nasty list of silent letters to the English language that weren’t there before thanks to those early press operators.
Oh, we steal words. And we will continue to steal words until we have them all!
English suffers from adopting a lot of words from other languages. We got a mix of Germanic, French, a bit of Spanish and Italian, and for the US English, whatever butchery the Brits did/do. (See: The Great vowel shift and Soccer) You smash all those languages together and then let the Brits spend a few hundred years mangling everything and see what you get for rules.
Today English is still willing to file the serial numbers off of any cool sounds and claim as our own. So, Damn the Rules! It makes for interesting words.
But I still blame the French for no other reason than I can.

234·4 days agoIsn’t it funny how people who “have things” are less likely to be all that interested in leftism. And those who don’t have “things” look at them, want more leftism because they want want the “things” the people who have “things” and they don’t have.
And neither side understands the other.
“Currently trying”. Well, that only took several generations to pull their collective heads out of their asses. Imagine what that industrial/military complex is going to eventually cost EU citizens. Once you get on that particular horse, it’s hard to get off.
That’s too bad. I have a tabletop oscillator that is 60+ years old that has those oil cups. I’m having it buried with me when I die. That way no matter how hot hell is, I’m going to have my fan!
And why can’t the EU step up? The EU chose to let the US become the world police because they thought it would easier and cheaper. And now they are pissed about it.
A lucky discovery! And it’s always better to be lucky than good.
Yeah, grease can become a problem over the years as the waxes in them harden. Oils are often better for the plain bearings found in a small fan. And even small ball bearing tend to prefer oils over grease.
Do your fans have little oil cups? When I was a kid, small fans often had little oil cups to directly lubricate those plain bearings regularly. So many 3-in-One oil cans.
Depends on the day and personal beliefs of the person advocating for it. So, Schroedinger’s World Police. As a USian, I would prefer the EU took over the world police job. It’s not worth the effort.
You speak Hun-glish? I knew a little old lady way back in the day that spoke Hun-glish. As a medic, it took several conversations before I could even begin to understand her spoken symptoms.

9·5 days agoThat’s the allure for me. I can choose to buy what I can afford and then at a later date add other options myself as I want them or need them. But the range is an issue for me as a rural person where a trip to a clinic is 100 mile round trip. And if I need more, then it becomes a 200+ mile trip.

I don’t. If they can’t read or spell, fuck 'em. I have no interest in talking to stupid people. Nor am I interested in stupid people that have no interest in continuing to learn and try new things. There are a surprising number of adults that refuse to do so.
