Do you have immobile blankets lol

Doesn’t mean it’s immune.
That is what it means.
Any project with a GPL or similar license is effectively immune from takeover.
As long as there is someone with the skills and interest with access to the source (and there are legions), they can use it. If someone wants to keep it the way it was or change it in some big way, they can fork it.
Every time there has been a corp buyout or ideological divide, the people exercise their rights and projects fork, preserving the independence and community values.

Kindly point me to three generalist, widely known XMPP servers.
The lack of generalist widely known XMPP servers has nothing to do with the fact that today anyone who wants to deploy a modern up to date XMPP server can do so, and has choices. There are also modern actively maintained clients. That’s my point. There are also many general free servers to join, even if not well known.
If you base the value of something on its popularity rather than its utility, then we aren’t concerned about the same things. As long as I can use the software I want to use in the way I want to use it, then I’m a happy user. I can’t control what other people use.

It’s the old “embrace, extend, extinguish” strategy in a new form.
Do I need to point out that this has never worked against linux/open source?

Probably but I’d have to look into it and see for myself about the details. I’m not going to let some asshole burn down perfectly good open source just by giving money to it.

I feel like in past few years the number of easily searched factual questions I see posted to forums has exploded. Questions like, how do I make pancakes? What is the tallest mountain? Can chickens fly?
It really seems like a ton of people have lost the ability (or never had it) to find answers for themselves.

Or I can ignore Omarchy. I can continue to use and support the open source projects I like. I’ve been a happy linux and open source user for 25+ years. So far no asshole with money has been able to mess it up yet and I don’t see that changing. Many have tried.

the last sentence hit me; the white house is independent of the President administration?
The last sentence you quoted is
The White House did not respond to a request for comment on the post.
Please help me understand how you got to “the white house is independent of the President administration” from that last sentence.

They must have changed from when I bought it 7 years ago.

If you are comparing on hardware you are missing the point. It comes with support and a free number they can call if something goes wrong. I don’t live in the same country as FIL so its was 100% worth it to make him happy with his computer.

I bought a WOW PC for my 83 year old father-in-law several years back and he loved it. It is linux based and includes support.

How do you feel about bean soup?

Grandma used to say nothing breaks the ice like breaking wind so give a friendly toot as you pass.
Asking the real questions

Why do you keep making new accounts to ask the same questions over and over bro?
maybe you are different. maybe you tie that lanyard to your belt loop.

If you ask me, unserious people like that deserve no response at all.
Step 1 would be making an effort to post this in an appropriate community. Try reading the sidebar before you post.

Where have “they” stopped allowing written signatures?
Don’t give them ideas or soon airlines will do this!
