Just wanted to say I’m loving these posts, thanks for writing them

I think you mean lods of emone?

I remember that the foot and mouth outbreak in the UK was a lab accident, procedure failed and a lot of bovine were culled and some people died in truly horific ways.
I don’t understand why it’s so political to say that it’s likely that covid may have had a similar start. It happens, it’s terrible, it’s not helpful when you’re directly fighting it to focus your energy on blame but if this was a lab leak, shouldn’t we now be focused on tightening regulations on bio-experimentaion in order to reduce the risk of this occurring again? Global treaties on how to approach such research, share procedure to keep everyone safe.

I’ve made my peace with this. I cried a bit playing through thr anniversary edition and reflected on what could’ve been. I think I’m ok with there never being anything more, I would welcome a book or a comic though.
I thoroughly enjoyed black mesa but I don’t think it improved the game. I think it’s a pretty unbalanced experience with a lot of the original atmosphere replaced with pretty textures. I also think the xen levels were extremely unfaithful to the original and devoid of a lot of the original meaning, but again visually stunning.
There was, but now I’m getting older and more tired
I’ve wondered this for a while, is a car dependant society creating a general senae of selfishness?
Like if you walk everywhere, I feel your behaviour will be rounded out via interactions with others, but in a car you’re removed from seeing the human effect your actions have, it allows you to detach your humanity because it happens outside your cage, you’re only concerned for what’s happening inside thr cage.
Not everyone obviously, cycling around the overwhelming majority of drivers are all good, but as a general trend I do wonder

Oh sorry, I know which one you mean, the profile button yeah. It’s the same number of clicks unfortunately

I did have a look there, but unfortunately no dice. I couldn’t see any account option. Unless I’m missing something, here’s the options I have

I hadn’t heard of Mozilla Connect, I’ll give that a look, thanks!

Yep! It’s absolutely fantastic. It was the main feature that I’ve been missing from Chrome since I made the switch years ago. Perfectly segregated environments, own logins, passwords, cookies, history, theme, ect, it works flawlessly.
The only negative, and it’s incredibly minor, is it’s nested behind the hamburger menu top right. It’s just an extra click, but I would prefer to have a profile icon next to my pinned extensions there.
So yeah, I think if you want this functionality, you’ll be extremely happy when it drops!

I’ve been rocking vertical tabs for a while on nightly along side the profile switcher. Honestly? Absolutely game changing. It’s been a breath of fresh air, Firefox feels transformed into a progressive browser for the first time in a long long time.
As for groups, here’s an example. I don’t personally use groups that much, I prefer profiles where I can keep environments segregated, but the groups do look pretty nice.
Here’s 2 groups with another tab at the top to give perspective

And I collapsed the top one

And here’s a full screenshot just to help put it in perspective

I was similar but stopped watching the wan show when every episode became a product showcase for their merch. Real shame, I feel Luke’s a weight keeping Linus somewhat grounded.

They’re Large Language Models. They’re defined as generative pre-trained text transformers, that’s their entire purpose.
Saying the calculator spits out random numbers would be wrong, but saying a calculator spits out numbers, that would be correct. Reductionist would probably be a better word than regressive or asinine.

But it’s accurate? Doesn’t mean that human looking text can’t be helpful to some, but it’ll also help keep us grounded to the reality of the tech.
Naw shucks haha, kind of you to say. I’m glad my ramble/vent was worth it!
Since ya played Edith Finch, in Until Then you form a much stronger connection with the characters, but the content and topics it faces are less extreme What is there will hit harder because of that connection I think.
I hope you enjoy any of the games I suggested! Also really, just get yourself Donut County. It’s a stupid cozy romp. Do racoon crimes.
Sorry to hear that, there’s been times where I’ve avoided certain bits of media for similar reasons, and that feeling of “should I invest myself in this?” while trying to keep yourself safe. I hope things improve for you.
I don’t want to say anything about Until Then really as I think the experience would be hampered knowing anything about it, but it’ll still be there for you in the future. There are heavier moments throughout the story however, I cried at both the beauty and the sadness at multiple points in the game.
Some comparable games that have some similar themes or vibes
I think a lot of these kinda stories revolve around the sadder parts of life to elicit emotion that drives us towards connecting with characters in the same way that seeing hardship and struggle makes you care about your fellow human. To me it feels that through these experiences we’re able to see our humanity in a rawer form, perhaps its because there’s a cost to ourselves due to our emotional investment. There’s no need to take on that cost unless you have the emotional space to do so though, but that cost is often what’s made it so great. I didn’t play any games for just over 2 weeks after I finished Until Then, I just started playing the piano, went on walks/bike rides/runs, and decided to get more involved at a local board game cafe. But really, no need to force yourself into that, focus on yourself, do the things you need to do to improve your situation internally or externally, it’ll be there for you then.
If you want some story-esque games that feel much less soul-consuming, here’s a few of my favourites:
And a couple of cozy games that are a bit adjacent to these
Edit: Also sorry for the monologue haha, didn’t mean for that to get so long, just started rambling
Additionally the officer that was killed, Larry Ray Henderson Jr, was a retired deputy who was helping direct traffic at the university of Cincinnati. He was just trying to be part of his community and help out.
