This is why it’s pointless to try to argue over who has suffered the most from these decisions, and who benefits from it. There is no referee conspiracy, it’s just incompetence. The quality of refereeing is apalling, and every club has had their turn getting screwed by it. This narrative of such and such coach making excuses or needing to move on is just getting the refs off the hook week after week for some god awful calls.

I feel like his goal, while crucial, kind of hides his defensive performance today which, while not disastrous, was once again not up to par for one of the best teams in the world. He got cooked by doku multiple times, and was fortunate that his teammates followed up well and it never resulted in a goal. Him and szoboszlai are also very lax on letting ake through to assist haaland. He may be improving, but his defending is still poor for a player of his caliber

Ake was brilliant this game. Very solid in his duel against Salah, made some big tackles and recoveries, and created the first goal with some great creativity for a CB.

Im not sure valid arguments would really make a difference since your opinion doesnt seem based on any valid facts. City havent bought a single player from a title challenger in the past 6 years. They dont spend more than the other big clubs in the league. They dont “throw money around” since they only ever buy 2-3 significant players a season.

Money is a big part of their success, as it has been for any dominant team in Europe in the past 30 years, but more important is how they’ve spent it and what they have built with it: top-tier facilities, an excellent supporting staff, a clear footballing vision and a cohesive, disciplined and ambitious team.
