Definitely. I couldn’t afford to anyway, but I would not want to be one of the early adopters. But eventually, they’ll be hacked and it’ll be possible to remove any insidious corporate “features” and I’d be left with all the benefits.

I’m really bad at bios.
Uhh hi I’m Shelby! I’m a trans woman from New York. My interests are fashion, photography, tech and music. So you can expect most of my posts to be about those topics. I pretty much only comment if I have something positive or constructive to say. I’m kind of a golden retriever girlie, so don’t be afraid to reach out. I’m always friendly to respectful people.
This is a kinda alt account for FRYD@sh.itjust.works I’m probably gonna migrate over to this being my main account at some point.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does an ordinary key hold a special memory for you? 🔑
1·1 day agoMy assumption was that some other drunk person found it on the ground and thought it would be easier for the owner to find if they came back because the branch was a bit below eye level. I definitely thought it was an odd place to find a key, but I wasn’t too worried. At that point I had found maybe 20 keys that year. Drunk college kids lose them a lot.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does an ordinary key hold a special memory for you? 🔑
1·2 days agoThe vast majority I’ve found just lying by the curb, usually in downtown areas. I’ve also found few during a few different jobs.
One that I can remember I found on top of a branch of a tree by the sidewalk. It was an unusually long key that I noticed when I stumbled into the tree on my way home drunk from a college party.
I used to worry a lot about them and the people looking for them, but I’ve tried to report them in the past but the owner never turned up. People worry about losing keys, but the reality is theres way too many locks to ever know what it goes to.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does an ordinary key hold a special memory for you? 🔑
2·3 days agoI actually have a collection of keys Ive found on the street while walking around. I have over 300 keys so far. They’re all on a bunch of varying sized key rings all connected together. It’s fascinating to see the different kinds and wonder why the person lost them. Some of them I can remember picking up a lot of them I don’t though.

7·6 days agoI really don’t see a problem unless you equate being gay with being bad or undesirable in some way. Who’s reading an article about butt plugs and only feels shame in their interest when gay people are brought up?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are you supposed to say to someone who believes climate change is real but won't accept that human activity contributes to it?
5·12 days agoNothing. You can’t logic someone out of a position they didn’t use logic to get to in the first place. There’s way more unmotivated and un-mobilized people out there that believe in human caused climate change that are more worth your time and energy.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•How do people cope with their life being essential ruined and fucked up?
3·19 days agoI bounce around a few friends place and live in my car a bit. I have a full time job. I can park in their lot overnight and get water there during the day. So I’ve got most of the situation figured out. The address thing is gonna be an issue eventually. Actually, it’ll be a big one. Oh well.

5·19 days agoMy kinda homeless isn’t as bad as it gets. I got a decent car and a decent job, just no bed.
My boss is actually Latvian with a pretty strong accent. She struggles with some stuff, but we communicate fine.
Anyway, I guess I’ve got some strength to me. It’s not something I started with though. You just pick it up on your way through hard times. I’m sure you can find your own strength too.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•How do people cope with their life being essential ruined and fucked up?
7·19 days agoI’m homeless because the US is… a mess and my family is the opposite of helpful.
I do post occasionally. There’s a couple posts on my old lemmy account, a few on my old reddit, and many more on my old instagram. I don’t want to link my instagram to this account because it’s semi-professional for when I do gigs and I don’t need what I write here associated with that.
Drawing is a good option. I’ve always struggled with it personally, but I am trying again recently.
As for the language barrier issue. Your written English isn’t perfect, but totally functional. I imagine your spoken english is similar although it’s probably slow. I’ve heard the best way to learn fluency is from talking with people though. So maybe you’ll get better quicker than you expect.
To your final point. “Inevitable” is a word only used in hubris. If predicting the future were that easy, we’d live in a better world. Obviously I don’t know your language, but the phrase you’ve given seems to have a dual meaning. On one hand it seems to express a kinda of hopeless futility, but it also reads to me in a more positive way too. If ever said “I can’t breathe enough before I die” I would only say that to express that there’s so much I want to do and so little time to do it.
I can’t promise things will get better. Things might get worse or just stay hard for a really long time. That’s certainly been my experience. Still I’m determined because there are things I want to experience. I want to be happy and have fun and make friends and Im not going to let the unfairness of this shitty world stop me.
I had to go through a seriously dark period to get to this mindset, but I did get through it. I wasn’t hopeful or optimistic while I was dealing with it, but I kept going anyway.

18·19 days agoI can’t say things have ever been that bad for me, but I’m in a really rough place myself right now.
Focus on your next step. Survival is most important. Try your best to find stability and find a good outlet for all the stress you’re dealing with.
I’m homeless right now and my next step is to make enough money for rent somewhere. My outlet is my photography, I’d lose my mind without it.
Surely you’re dealing with a lot of trauma and you’re going to need help dealing with that. If you can get that help, then it’s worth pursuing. If not, it’s okay to put it off until you have higher priorities taken care of.
Your life isn’t ruined. You can rebuild and find stability. You just have to keep going and never give up.
I’m 29 right now and people say I look 18
When I was 13, a 13 year old friend and I went to a convention where my friend got an under 12 child’s ticket and I got a 15+ chaperone ticket. Now both of us get carded at bars and we’re pushing 30. People aren’t good at guessing ages.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Metro New Yorkers tend to say they stand on line, whereas most other New York State and American English speakers tend to stand in line.English
11·1 month agoI live kind of in the metro NY area and I go to the city a lot. I’ve only ever heard “I got on the line” or “Are you on the line?” otherwise it would be “get in line” or “I’m in line for …”
Overall though, that article feels really dated. The famous NYC accent has been fading in recent years. I haven’t heard many of the features listed in that article and more still I’ve only heard from old people.

It was absolutely fantastic to see. I think a lot of my amazement at it was simply because of the medium. The quality of everything is incredible, especially considering it’s all stop motion. The story itself is good, I have no real complaints besides tiny nitpicks about pacing. It’s a very fast paced movie, which makes things feel a bit underdeveloped, but it’s also very exciting.
