My salary minus rent and cost of living leaves me with about 5 eur/hour. Fast food that costs me 2+ hours? No thanks.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•have any of you lost faith in the voting system and outright refused to vote anymore
3·4 天前Kind of sucks I can’t vote from abroad, so I don’t.

Linux@lemmy.ml•[SOLVED ]My Linux won't boot anymore because it can't find the boot drive?
3·10 天前Check again whether windows reenabled fast boot. Maybe disable secure boot in bios as well.
In grub recovery mode, see which drives are there and try to cd into them.
Depends where you live. In my current city there are almost no women going to those kinds of meetups and the city I grew up in is so dead there just aren’t any events like that.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•When you signal a number to another person using your hands, do you face your palm or tge back of your hand to the ither person?
4·12 天前If I count for myself my palm faces me. I turn it to show someone else, with palm facing them, as if it’s a piece of paper with text.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What laws (if any) should exist around recreational drugs?
1·12 天前People should be punished for financially supporting violent cartels, which we know you do when you buy e.g. coke.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•The Work Phishing Email Test Was Suddenly Halted
3·14 天前My company used some security software that scrambled up every url in emails.
You could’ve spotted their fake meeting invite if only it would have shown its true url.
I kept getting annoying recruiters contacting me while I still had a job, but once I switched it to being available for work, I got nothing.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Would you rather be an idiot on a team of intelligent people or the intelligent person on a team of idiots?
5·17 天前Ignorance is bliss. Besides, it’s usually the idiots who get promoted.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•A curious conversation with a coworker who enjoys her job. How many of you like your job?
3·17 天前Many jobs have this weird, culty feeling where we all pretend work is great but you can’t say it out loud.
In my last job most of my colleagues were pretty open about how much it sucks to have to work but most of them (developers) earned very well and were saving up to quit.
I wouldn’t even live in a filthy city if it wasn’t where the work is.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you treat the yard as a room of your house?
4·20 天前It’s weird whatever trend is going on now.
My parents just got new neighbors who destroyed the entire garden, paved it over and just sit there, talking, smoking, giggling, playing music, like it’s their living room.
Some other new neighbors further down the road bought a house with a beautiful garden and killed everything to replace it with tiles and gravel. They’re never even outside.
People actually complain when leaves from their neighbor’s trees fall onto their property.
And it’s as if people don’t remember how it was in the 90s and before. They freak out when there’s a bug. The world used to be full of bugs before. And it’s the people who have nothing but grass who actually water their gardens.
I do what I can with the little balcony space I have. It’s messy but it’s green.
Since my computer is having some memory issues, I keep an eye out for it. Watching a YouTube video in Firefox took around 700 mb, opened it in Zen browser and it took >1 gb. Zen overall doesn’t seem very responsive.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is it like being drunk? How much control do you have?
3·29 天前First it makes me happy, then tired, then sick. Movements get a little slower. It depends on the person I guess but I always felt doing things you otherwise wouldn’t seems more like an act or an excuse.
We had a blackout last year. Most stores were still operating. Apparently enough people still carried cash.
