Finding a “neutral” jury just means you get a bunch of cop-loving people with a shitty centrist bias that end up locking people in prison even when the evidence showed otherwise. If most people lean a certain way, perhaps their opinion should count.

Suddenly, only 20% are interested...English11·3 months agoI’ve worked at a company that did injection molding, and they made people have to work at superhuman speeds with equipment that continued to give injuries. Part of the reason is because they would collect data from the fastest person on the machine and expect everyone else to work as fast. The mentors who were being timed caught on and started working slower to make the pace less ridiculous. Management would also let go of people who had injuries because they didn’t want to pay for it.

Suddenly, only 20% are interested...English10·3 months agoPersonally I would like to work in a semiconductor factory as an engineer or even start in an entry level position. Probably won’t happen in my lifetime if I stay where I live, and it will probably become more difficult to achieve in Amerikkka as tarriffs lead to domestic industry crumbling while the working class begins to lose access to basic necessities like education and healthcare. My dream at this point is revolution or move to China, if I even survive.

Oops. I guess if I want to use WeChat at some point, I will need to get a separate phone.

China is responding to those sanctions, but they would rather work peacefully and encourage mutual trade with us. But the US doesn’t want its own citizens to benefit from China’s affordable electric vehicles because US’s own car manufacturers would have to lower their overinflated prices.
Imnecomrade@lemmygrad.mlto US News@lemmygrad.ml•Xiaohongshu, China's answer to Instagram, hits no. 1 on the App Store as TikTok faces US shutdownEnglish81·6 months agoChina can’t control the US setting up military infrastructure in its own province which threatens its own existence and national security. What if China started developing military opposition in Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, or California? Wouldn’t the US lose their shit and see it as a threat to its own existence? Then why is it fair that we are doing the same in Taiwan?
Imnecomrade@lemmygrad.mlto US News@lemmygrad.ml•Xiaohongshu, China's answer to Instagram, hits no. 1 on the App Store as TikTok faces US shutdownEnglish101·6 months agoChina doesn’t want to attack Taiwan. The US is provoking them and trying to turn Taiwan into its own vassal and stop China from completing its Belt and Road Initiative which would develop the Global South’s economies and make them independent and protected from Western colonialism/neocolonialism/imperialism and IMF debt loans. As countries are moving away from the US dollar, our own economy is suffering because our government refuses to stop being a demonic imperialist entity that wants to rule over the world and not allow a multipolar world where different countries can work and trade together mutually and peacefully, which would lead to workers running the government and building an economy that benefits humanity’s well being.

The US officially recognizes the One China Rule, that Taiwan is a province in China, the PRC is the legitimate government of China, and that China and Taiwan should resolve their differences peacefully, which is the point of the One China Rule. Despite this, the US has funded $44 billion and created various military exchange programs for “Taiwan’s defense”, and China opposes this as obviously we don’t have a good track record with not funding and attacking foreign countries for our own gain. US wants to start a war with China because its hegemony is crumbling, and they want to keep the rich in power and not work toward a system where the workers benefit from universal healthcare, affordable housing, etc.

Explain to me how they used the data for malicious purposes. Also explain to me how US based companies like Meta, Google, Amazon, etc. aren’t doing the same thing and actually provide that information to the police to develop the surveillance and police state here. What’s China going to do with our data, sell it to AliExpress to make us treats?
Imnecomrade@lemmygrad.mlto US News@lemmygrad.ml•Xiaohongshu, China's answer to Instagram, hits no. 1 on the App Store as TikTok faces US shutdownEnglish13·6 months agoI’m not acting like anything, the government is. Some of the reasons to your question include: the law is slow, TikTok is among the most popular, banning more apps would further kill the illusion that it is for OuR pRoTeCtIoN, and the US is trying to manufacture consent with a war with China by spreading anti-China propaganda and is failing to do so. The US wants to use its own tech and internet companies as a way to protect US hegemony and to not let other nations develop their own tech sovereignty. China’s Great Firewall is a protectionist policy that encourages their citizens to use and develop their own tech sovereignty, and now as they are starting to surpass the US internet companies, they are opening the doors to their platforms and giving people across the world a chance to connect on a truly global platform. Chinese citizens do not go to prison for using a VPN to access content in other countries. Europe is now considering their own Great Firewall as they realized that they are very dependent on US infrastructure, and such a firewall would help encourage their own internet industries to develop and improve their own sovereignty. US servers are also proving to be not safe for other countries to host websites given this aggressive ban and hostile behavior against foreign content which harms their hegemony.

The US said the quiet part out loud that the reason for the TikTok ban is because young people were seeing media of the horrific acts of the Israeli regime and its genocide on Palestine, and the US did not have the ability to control the narrative and censor content on TikTok.

Sadly, it looks like most of them are unsafe, at least to some degree. Surprisingly, some chocolates from big corporations are safer than non-slave produced ones made by cooperatives, though that’s probably because most American chocolate is mostly sunflower oil and other crap.
