Those people have been fooling themselves. It has been clear for quite a while that the partnership would apply to “flagship” phones for now. That’s corporate code for: “phones that are unnecessarily expensive and chock-full with tech that most people don’t need, but buy anyway in order to (unsucessfully) impress others”.
This is accurate. I’ve been flashing phones with custom ROMs for years now, and doing it through the browser makes it both dead easy and pretty safe. You no longer need to be a tech shaman to do it. Just follow the instructions and you’re good.
Also, if you don’t like it, you can always go back to stock Android (i.e. what was installed before you started tinkering). It’s pretty painless. So roll up your sleeves and explore!

Couldn’t agree more. I’m currently on the Pixel 6a, and in spite of having perfectly average-sized hands, I feel its 6.1" display is unwieldy. 6.8" is just bonkers.

Republicans have seen now that being aligned or just associated with Trump is absolutely toxic and will inevitably lose them seats. Thus, the closer we get to 2028, they will increasingly shun, undermine or even openly oppose him, which will hurt his ego bigly. I’ll be there for that, schadenfreude cranked up to 11, gleefully watching on as he goes through his own, personal, well-deserved hell.
Last night saw his party and his ego massacred bigly. Let the man grieve, alright? He deserves it, along with everything that’s coming to him now.

Exactly my story. Putting stuff into and getting it back out of Linkwarden was way too cumbersome, even with the FF addon installed. I want to just Control + D/B to throw something inside / get something out of my bookmarks. Linmwarden’s preservation of content is nice and all, but I found I rarely if ever needed that functionality.

Setting up a VPN comes at zero software costs (it’s all open source software, unless you’re keen on getting ripped off by some proprietary product) and a reasonably low cost in man hours for setting it up (we’re talking single-digit to low double-digit hours here).
If by “another Jan 6” he means “more arrests and convictions for anyone threatening and committing acts of violence under the pretext of ‘muh, the elections were rigged because my side can’t lose’” - well, I’m all for it.
